A Classic Book with amazing detail in its research.
I loved Hailey's comprehensive portrait of TV news operations and politics of ownership. The intimate detail in which he describes the way TV News worked was fascinating. It's easy to see why he is one of the world's top best selling authors.

One tape out of four does not work.
There were 2 cassettes with 4 sides to this audiobook and side 2 does not work.

Well crafted yarn
Plot a little dated in terms of communications technology but still a gripping read for all that.

Pleased to obtain it
Again, I enjoyed it. At that time, Hailey books were getting increasingly difficult to obtain in shops, so I was pleased to get it. Haley's attention to detail is first class. In this book, there is a kidnapping, a finger cutting of a young pianist, the complicated life of Harry Partridge, and general confusion amongst the Detectives on the case. It is not quite up to the standard of "Strong Medicine" but it is a readable book for all that. One thing to note is that in the British edition of the books, words are spelt the British way!

Couldn't Wait To Finish It
I struggled to read this book to the end, it frustrated me so much. It was obviously written for readers with a short attention span. Every character is referred to, repeatedly, by their full name and job title. This gets quite laborious after a while, well quite quickly actually.Obviously the author had done some in-depth research into the TV news business, and was determined that we should know it. Some of the explanations were slightly patronizing, and of course (and this is in no way the author's fault) in many cases the details were extremely dated, news-gathering technology having improved dramatically since this was written. This was the first book by Arthur Hailey I have read, and I have to say I probably won't bother picking up another one.
