Well, we have a most stubborn kitten that would NOT stop jumping on the counters. He has the rest of the house to play in and a ton of toys but is very food driven and just won't stop getting on the counter! So we tried water spray, sticky tape, spike mats, cat repellent sprays (2 types), ultrasonic devices, pushing him off, etc. NOTHING worked.THIS WORKED SO FAR! Yay. It's been a couple of weeks and he is now pretty much staying off the counter when the mat is on there. We have to leave it on and it's on the 2nd setting right now. It's a pain to deal with because we had to cover the whole counter so trying to use the kitchen and the sink is not an easy task but hopefully he will eventually get the message and just stop. He is the most stubborn cat I've ever been around and even the spike mats he just jumped on and endured the uncomfortable feeling on his feet. He is a 6 month old kitten that is large and heavy. We got two mats and double sided the ends together so they would stay on the counter. There are rubber dividers that we put double stick tape on as well to hold it in place. Otherwise, he just jumped up there, endured the pain and pushed it off the counter and went on his way. However after taping it down so it couldn't be pushed off, he is now more compliant. I just wish we would have gotten it when he was younger before he was able to get bad habits.UPDATE..just ordered 2 more. These are still the only thing that works. We did have to move it to the highest setting though but as long as they are up there he stays off. Any bare counter tho and he is right back on the counters. Very very stubborn cat!!!!!It rolls up easy and we can leave it on the counter at night when he does not have access to the kitchen. So far the batteries are doing okay.I noticed someone said they had it for a few days and then it started beeping and wouldn't stop. That happened to us as well but I discovered a tiny bit of water under the mat that was causing the problem. Be sure your surface is clean and dry. As soon as I got the water dried up and wiped the bottom of the mat it worked just fine again.Bottom line: Good product, worked when nothing else did, easy to use, battery operated. Keep clean and be gentle with it. Should work fine.

These pads work well. I adopted a good-natured cat, but as a former stray, he has behavior issues tied to anxiety about food, so he is constantly jumping on the kitchen counters looking for food, even when he has just eaten. He will even do it while I am at the counter preparing his food--he simply can't control it. I bought two of these pads to retrain him to stay off the countertops, and it has worked very well. The pads will do both a beep and a mild electric shock, with five levels of both volume and electric current. You can also set it to just a beep, just electric current, or both, depending on your needs. The battery life/usage (one 9-volt) is good--after 3 weeks, I'm still using the first battery that I installed; the unit blinks every 3-4 seconds when it is on, using very little power until the cat lands on it. The strength of the current isn't excessive; at level 2, it is approximately the same as putting your tongue on a 9-volt battery to check it, and I have never used it beyond level 3 because these settings were enough to do the job. It only took 2-3 times of the cat jumping on it to make him extremely wary of it, and he won't jump on the counter at all now if the pads are there (they don't even have to be turned on--he just won't jump on them). However, he will jump on the counters if the pads aren't there, so I will continue to use them for a while, but I only turn them on during the night and when I am away from home. When I need to use the countertop, the pads roll up easily. One thing to note is that they are extremely sensitive to liquids; if a pad gets wet, it will begin to beep constantly and must be powered down and dried thoroughly before it will function again (use a dry towel and a short period of air-drying). The pad is humane and effective.

UPDATE: 04/2023: Only two of them are still working. I bought 7 and 2 still work but beep a lot for no reason and we have to turn it off a lot. For some of the other ones the beeper stopped working. The rest just don't work anymore. My dogs still thought they were on so they stopped peeing on the floor BUT now they know and they have resumed peeing on the floor. Debating whether I should purchase more. I thought they'd last longer.I needed something that would alert me when my male dogs would try and sneak an indoor potty time. The beeping alerted me to what they were doing but also freaked them out so much that they're scared to lift a leg now! I have 3 placed in their favorite potty spots. It's been 2 months and so far so good.

Oh man, is this what I have wanted!!! kitties have a beautiful outside run, but are escape artists when I go out to my little balcony,,,,set it up, and my "regular" type kitty, only took once!!! The Siamese seemed a bit denser, took three times but they now won't go near the door....Super product, super instructions, LOVE the "beep and blast" feature,,,told me when the little culprits were on an escaping mission. Trained them by leaving the door open a crack,,,,,

We were at our wits end our cats would not stop peeing at the bottom of the stairs we tried everything and nothing worked until I purchased this product. This saved our sanity the cats no longer pee outside of the litter box. I would strongly recommend.

This cat won't go near it. She got shocked and jumped at least 3ft high. Well made mat.

Used to keep my dogs off the new couch. Works amazing most of the time. Sometimes it fails to send a shock right away. Have you ever stuck your tongue to a 9 volt battery?? It feels like that but stronger. Strong enough that you don't want it to happen again. Would like it to be heavier/weighted/rubber backed so that it doesn't slide around so easily. I would deff buy again.
