Easy Read
Was an easy book to read but wasn't so interesting with a weak end. Could have developed into something much better.

There is no plot....
This book leaves the reader in a quandary. It is the observations of a single waiter in an upscale formal restaurant. The entire book is about his thoughts and judgments about several regular customers. We know nothing about him except that he must be lonely. He has only one friend (who also frequents the restaurant with his niece). He appears to be a tad obsessive/compulsive (not a bad quality for a waiter), and has no life but the restaurant. The descriptions of the restaurant are extraordinary, but this reader had so many questions when the book ended.

Not a good comparison
One of the reviewers said that this book was similar to "A Man in Moscow". After reading The Waiter, I felt set up. There was a waiter and a young girl(s) in both books, but that's where the similarity ends. I LOVED A Man in Moscow and I forced myself to finish reading The Waiter.

A man who aims for perfection
A fascinating personality study. The Waiter is a sympathetic hero who engages the reader.he keeps us wondering what will happen next.
