These charcoals are a little hard to use. I’ve used different brands that are soft enough to draw.

Better than what I've been getting from a large art supply store
The media could not be loaded. I work with charcoal a lot, especially vine and willow charcoal. I prefer this over compressed charcoal because I like to blend and get fine details and contours (portrait and figure drawing.) I have tried many many many types of willow charcoal and immediately put this product up against what I already had in my kit. Honestly it was impossible to tell the difference most times and often performed better than some of the other sticks I had. These sticks gave me nice light marks as well as some very dark marks and they blended beautifully with my finger. I was able to erase out highlights easily as well. See my video for a quick demo.To be fair, willow charcoal can vary from batch to batch because it is a natural product, but considering the price and fast shipping, this is an excellent value. I appreciate the storage tin and foil wrapping, although I do break my sticks into smaller pieces so the foil doesn't do much for me.

Very Good
Bought these for a charcoal portrait I was working on. I used Two Sided (Smooth and Grained) Canson Colorline White Drawing Paper, and the charcoal stuck perfectly to it. Definitely recommend this product, especially for the levels of value you may need.
