Yay! You can see it in bright sunlight!
I was trying to replace a lost Intellituner and this is one of the few LCD tuners out there.PROS: You can sorta see it in bright sunlight, which was my main concern...outdoor gigs. Not well, but enough to be useable.Works on my mandolin...seems to be very precise and found the tone even when the string is struck lightly. The price. Seven bucks and change? Awesome! The display turns green when it is in tune, which is nice.It also has different settings for guitar, chromatic, bass, violin, and ukelele. It shows you the string number. If you hit the low G on a mandolin, it says "1" . If you turn it to the Guitar setting, plucking the same string it will say "3". If you are tuning a mando, it will only tune to G D A and E. For a guitar, only E A D G B E. It has a Chromatic setting if you want to see every note. I assume you would have to use this mode to do any alternate tunings. However, the way you switch between the different modes is part of a larger problem mentioned later.CONS: You have to mount it so that the unit is in front of your headstock if you want to look at the display right side up. It flips up, and can then be turned to the left or right, but cannot be rotated. So if you want to keep it clipped to your headstock all night and don't want to hide that Gibson logo you paid so much for by keeping the main unit behind the headstock, you have to read it upside down.It only has one button, and its on the wrong side...awkward to reach over with my left hand to turn it off and on. And that's a little awkward, too, since you need to use a long press to turn it off or on, and short presses to switch between Guitar, Violin, Ukelele etc modes. So when I awkwardly reach over/around the tuner to turn it off and forget its a long press, I change the mode instead, and then have to hit the button five more times to get it back to the correct mode, then try to remember to long press to turn it off so I don't have to do it again. You might say I'm being picky and that I just need to learn how to use it, but not a single other piece of my gear...not ONE...uses a system like this where buttons are retasked depending on how long you hold them down. Would a second button have been so expensive? The thing was only eight bucks...I would have paid 8.50 for that. When you come out with the ChromaCast 441 (or the next version) three suggestions...1) add a separate power button, 2) add either the ability to flip the screen upside down or the ability to rotate the display clockwise and counterclockwise on the arm. 3) If you must stick with the one button design, change it so that a long press changes modes and a short press turns it on and off. I turn this thing off and on forty times a night. I change modes...uh...never. And even if I were changing constantly back and forth between, say, ukulele and bass at a gig, I would just buy another tuner. They're only seven bucks.

NIce and simple
I have purchased five of these. This tuner is good for a variety of insturments. You will see an orange/yellow digital/analog screen, then when you are in tune, the screen changes color to green. I find this feature to be great! I have compared the tuning result with a couple of Korg tuners and they all agree as to tuning. It is inexpensive. If I lose one it is no big deal. I have given a couple away to some beginning guitarists. They seem to have no trouble using the tuner. So, I would say that it is intuitive in its use. Out of the five, one was buggy, but removing the battery 'resets' the tuner and I can proceed with my tune up. If it werent for that one 'buggy' tuner I'd have rated this a five (5) star.

Worked very well for me
Waylon Jennings said it all when he sang; "The only two things in life that make it worth livin', Is guitars that are tuned good and-" well you get the point.

Bright, visible, accurate, works, a Snark killer
Manufactured to +/- 1 cent, with 1 cent markings. The bright orange could not be more visible, and when it goes bright green you know it. I can easily tune even without my glasses. I like the vertical shape, can be mounted above or below the headpiece.I almost bought a Snark, but was put off by the many reports of breakage of the long and apparently flimsy support arm, making the Snark round screen sticking up like a badminton racket. In comparison this Chromacast has a short, seeming stronger base, and displays all the info in a nice, narrower but more visible vertical fashion. It was certainly worth a chance at just $6.98. I also like the fact that it has auto turn off if you forget, that can also be turned on/off manually to save the battery.Bottom line: I received and tested it, love it. A good deal made even better by its competence, and inexpensive enough that I can afford to buy another for my other uke.

Great Tuner for Conventional Tuning! Works well for my bass and my guitar.
The biggest benefit of this tuner over the others I have is that the display turns green when you're in the sweet spot. When you've got just a few seconds to check tuning between songs, that's a great thing. It is a little tough to use if you're tuning to an open E or an open D. It refuses to display the F# and reads the strings wrong when you down tune them. In conventional tuning it does work well for both my bass and 6 string, and even works well on the 12 string. It has been a little wonky when I turn it on, sometimes hanging on the display startup. Cycling the power gets it right back though and it is a great little tuner all in all.

Chromacast 440 vs the Fender Chromatic Clip
These were both under $8 so I got them bothThe Chromacast wins because the fender requires a jewler's screw driver to open the batter compartment and you have to have your own battery. Both have clip on capacity only. There is no microphone on either so they need to be clipped on. I wonder if the previous review had trouble with the mando because it wasn't clipped on.Both are accurate compare to my pitch lab app and eno tuner.update 9/21/14: I still love my chromacast 440 but have a suggestion for the engineers if there is an upgrade. When the battery is getting low, it takes longer for it to start up and all the lights are on. Eventually it doesn't complete the start up and fails. With the eno tuner the display starts to get weak but still works for quite a while. The fender is still on it'd first battery because I don't use it as much.

Easy to read and very accurate
Cool looking tuners.Bright and easy to read. I bought 4 of them. I actually like them better than my Snark tuners. They fold up real small so they are easy to store in my case and in my pocket. Everybody should have these.
