WATCHAREE'S Thai Curry Sauce Pouches, Non-GMO Authentic Traditional Recipe, Ready-to-Use Packet (Coconut Curry)

Tastes as good as the jars, but just not as much in package.

Not nearly as good as their curry in the glass bottle. The value is ok but I won’t buy it again because the flavor wasn’t nearly as good as the their Thai curry in the bottle. Disappointed.

I live this curry sauce. Full of flavor and just spicy enough. I add to frozen vegetables and viola! And instant meal. Overall flavor and price makes this my go to curry sauce.

While the sauce may be the same, the portion size was different.The one I received said 1/2 cup was one portion at 320, or so, calories.Way too caloric for my diet.I used one tablespoon plus 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil and a couple of teaspoons of peanut powder, finished off with a little fresh lime juice.I simply added it to my stir fry, one portion, and it was delicious.Once opened I have no idea how long this will last in the fridge. Assuming four days.That’s how long an opened can of coconut milk lasts and this has that as a main ingredient,Not particularly spicy, a little sweet. Rich and delicious.I would have preferred if there were a few smaller pouches as I am cooking for one these days. I imagine the bulk of this will go to waste…not happy about that.

I actually went to the store to get my usual Paleo Thai coconut curry chicken meal but lately they’ve been sold out! So out of desperation I scanned the Asian aisle and saw this sauce for sale. I grabbed two packages and a tray of chicken tenderloins and hoped for the best. I diced the chicken tenderloins and cooked it in a sauce pan with a little oil, and once the chicken was cooked I added most of the sauce into the pan and then reduced the heat to let it simmer and thicken up. After plating it with rice I added a little bit of the extra sauce I had on top and let me tell you, I was SO impressed! Better than the meal I was buying. It was rich and full of flavor and tasted healthy. I am totally going to buy more.

Well, this sauce didn't live up to its name in my opinion. It's not spicy. It's not peanut-y. It doesn't have much flavor at all beyond just.....sweet. Maybe I'm being too picky. It's ok...I just had to add a lot more things to make it taste good and using more of the sauce itself led to too much sweetness. Overall, it worked in a pinch but isn't something I'd order again.The quality of ingredients was middle of the road, better than total junk-filled brands but not as clean as just making your own sauce.

And, far too many times, I’ve been disappointed in the ‘home versions’ of Thai sauce that I’ve tried. It seems to me that, many times, the products that I’ve tried that are packaged in a bag/pouch either have what I consider to be too many preservatives or have what my taste buds think of as a strange off-taste. And many times, I’ve found that taste of the pre-packaged sauces don’t really replicate the taste of the Thai sauces that I enjoy in restaurants.For me, the Watcharee’s Thai Coconut Curry Sauce doesn’t fall into any of those categories. My first impression when opening the pouch and enjoying the aroma was that the sauce had a tremendous amount of potential. The sauce smelled that good.My second impression was that perhaps the sauce might a bit too thin, but that turned out to not be an issue as after adding the sauce to some sauteed vegetables and chicken, and allowing the combination to be completely heated, the sauce turned out to be the ‘just-right’ consistency I remembered from my restaurant trips.So, then came my third impression after I took my first taste of my evening meal of Thai coconut chicken over white rice. And that impression was that the sauce and the meal it created was, for me and for my family, not just good but really good.I found that the sauce was only a little bit spicy or perhaps tangy is more appropriate. The coconut milk, the red curry paste, the lemongrass, the ginger, the coconut sugar, the curry powder … all combine wonderfully to create a sauce that, for me at least, is as close to a restaurant quality of Thai Coconut Curry Sauce that I think I’ve ever had or at least had in a long time.Granted, I consider this 7-ounce bag of Thai Coconut Curry Sauce to be the high side when it comes to price but the quality and taste of the sauce makes up somewhat for the price and for those time when I want to stay home and still have ‘special’ meal this Watcharee’s Pouch is high of my list for items I want to keep in my pantry.If this review was helpful, please click the Helpful button below

This WATCHAREE'S Pouches Thai Peanut Curry Sauce is delicious! We ordered a two pack of the larger sized jars while we were eating dinner (and we ate it too quickly to get any pictures)! Everyone agreed, it's fantastic - really flavorful but not too spicy.The pouch was a nice method for getting a smaller quantity. We finished it off in one meal of air fried tofu, pan fried with the peanut sauce. We also used some of the remaining sauce over rice noodles. I love that this is vegan, GF, and has no added junk. It's just the same ingredients you would use to make your own. It's incredibly convenient to have a sauce this good on the shelf ready to go. I prefer this to eating out, so it's a bargain. If you like peanut sauce, you have to try this one! Highly recommend!!
