I gave this an overall 5 because it has lasted longer than most dog toys I've bought. I bought the first set of 2 last September and it was about 7 months later when I got the 2nd set.. I have Labrador's who love to 'fetch' from the swimming pool and running across a field. This is a daily event and my dogs LOVE them!! It has hard plastic ends and soft plastic 'spines' in the middle. The straps on either end make it easy to throw and to retrieve it from their mouths. My only problem with it is...my dogs love to chew and play tug of war. Which means the 'spines' have no chance at survival and have been torn off - hence durability of 3. That being said, they still float but we watch the dogs very carefully so they don't ingest the plastic. This is not a toy that I leave out for the dogs, it only comes out at playtime. If you have an aggressive chewer you must supervise them with this toy. When these toys are too far gone, I'll definitely be buying more.

UPDATE: We finally held onto one of these toys (remember I said we usually lose them!) long to destroy it, so it IS possible! That said, I stand by my review because dog toys are *meant* to be destroyed. It's like watching a teenage boy clean out a refrigerator - it's hard on your wallet but what are you gonna do? *Not* feed your kid?? As with the doggos, your task is keep any eye out and prevent any choking incidents! ;-)Swim Dog Jedi (70 lbs, AmStaff/Shepherd/Husky) and Maggie (50lbs, Pit/Yellow Lab) have tried every toy there is between them and the ChuckIt! Rugged Bumper is the undisputed WINNER.This toy meets ALL the criteria:Jedi wants to dive for it, so it must float.It's excellent for tug-of-war. Nylon toys like the Squirrel and the Flying Ring get destroyed the moment Jedi steps out of the water with them. Maggie wants to tug-of-war!It's *hard* to destroy. I've never thrown any of these away. I've just lost them. The first serious break we've ever experienced was the "snap" of the barbel, whatever the center rod inside the toy. They folded it in half, but there's no external damage at all.It's cleanable. It rinses off or you can use a scrub brush if you want. It can be sanitized.Most important of all - the dogs love to play with it. The ribs give it a nice texture and the heavy-duty straps on each end let multiple dogs (or humans) interact with the toy. A lot of rugged toys end up being boring and the dogs won't play with them. Dogs need at least the illusion of something they can chew or break off. ;)10 out of a 10! Buy it!

This dog toy was chewed easily & quickly destroyed. I put in in the trash within five minutes of opening it and giving it to my dog. Not the usual quality of toys and the only one of this brand that has been that way.

Our two Labrador Retrievers thoroughly enjoy playing fetch with this floating toy in the pool. Its lightweight construction and convenient straps make it effortless to throw and easy for them to retrieve. However, it's crucial to note that this toy is strictly for interactive play and is not suitable for chewing. I have to keep a close eye on my more aggressive chewer, as he could destroy it within minutes if given the chance. Despite this, the toy is a big hit with both dogs, as long as I prevent them from tearing it apart.

The media could not be loaded.  Well, the big guy absolutely loved this ChuckIt toy. Unfortunately I have to say that in past tense, as it lasted less than 24 hours for our 120# German Shepherd. He *is* a very heavy chewer, though. It looks like it is actually constructed pretty well and might last much longer for a medium chewer. That, in combination with the rapid damage observed after some unsupervised chewing that was allowed in this case (because, Hey! ...it’s Christmas!), leads me to give it three stars.Once he got the end chewed off of it, the otherwise very durable rubber veins of this toy were very enticing for him to chew off with little scissor bites and apparently tasty enough to swallow... DEFINITELY a toy that should be enjoyed under supervision.For the right dog, and with the right level of attention, I think this toy is actually a great product like most ChuckIt brand toys we have bought over the years—Just not for strong or heavy chewers. I don’t know that I would label it as “rugged,” though.I ended up discarding the toy after a week. Even with only supervised chewing, the hard plastic core allowed for sharp shards of plastic to be broken off when gnawed.

The media could not be loaded.  My dogs friggin LOVE this! While they prefer large squeaky balls... This bumper is their second favorite! Very durable, floats and easy for them to grab in the water.

Great retrieving toy. Henry my 10 mo old lab loves fetching it from the water and maybe playing a little keep away

He hasn’t used it much as at dog park beach he is so busy with the other dogs that he doesn’t play with the toys much. It is durable and floats, well made and heavy duty. We don’t let him chew on them just save them for water fun
