I recently bought a new food processor, but found that it didn't necessarily do everything that I wanted it to do. I often cook Indian meals, some of which need (for example) cashew nuts ground to a paste. The food processor certainly chops them up, but fails to reduce them to a paste. Then it requires washing out and drying, which is a faff, hence the reason I bought this pestle and mortar. It will get used frequently for grinding spices, nuts and a host of other things and is easily washed up after use. It is a heavy and solid piece of kit and it looks so nice I will leave it on our window sill.
