Choose Us by Caylie Marcoe
Choose Us was an impulse buy. I'd seen it recommended before, but didn't think much of it. However, I was looking for a good read, and I saw this was on sale for 99¢. Why not? The plot was awesome. I loved everything about it. The reality show, best friends, mean girls, ect. The characters were great, and I don't feel like they fell flat at all. They were real, and I loved how Riley was more of a hoodie type of girl than a dress type of girl. Throughout the book, the characters grew, and that's usually the best part of a book. How someone can start at point A, and end up at point B. The changes in the characters weren't too extreme, however, which made it that much more believable. I've never actually read too many books where two best friends fall in love, especially if everyone else knew they'd end up together anyway. It seems a bit boring to me. However, this book really presented the climax, plot, and characters in a way that was not boring in the least bit. I loved the relationship between Riley and Travis, and loved how they've been best friends for fifteen years. That's a long time to be so close to someone. I think what I loved most about this book was how the relationship between Riley and Travis grew, though. It started out as buddy buddy, and slowly flourished into Riley feeling butterflies. It wasn't instant love, though, which seems to happen in a lot of books, an I hate it every time. Instant love isn't realistic at all, and this book didn't have that which made me happy. The obstacles and challenges the characters face really help them learn, and that is most definitely realistic. The only reason this book didn't get five stars is because I felt at the end, Riley was a wee bit impulsive for all that had happened, and Travis was a wee bit inconsiderate ( i.e. hugging Riley right when she got to their house. She was already panicking. At least wait until she sees the show, Travis.) However, in the very end, everything worked out and it ended with the happily ever after. Overall, I would've bought this book full price. It surely deserved it.

As warm as your fave hoodie
I absolutely adore the cover of this book. When I saw it floating around on Facebook it quickly caught my eye and made me immediate say "I WANT TO READ THAT!"What I loved about this book was that it was centered mostly between Riley and Travis. Even though there were supporting characters- there wasn't a bunch of junk about lost loves and choosing between past partners and new lovers which has become a common theme in romance. It is a straight up love story about two best friends who just don't really realize how they feel for each other until they're forced to. And it's a brilliant concept. Choose Us is a fresh idea that was turned into a beautifully written story. I want to tell you it's warm and sweet but that doesn't seem like a good enough explanation to do it justice so think of fresh laundered blankets straight out of the dryer while sitting on the couch eating <insert your fave comfort food here>. I absolutely adore that the story quickly develops. There's no waiting around to see what happens as soon as you open the book you. are. in. it.One of the major storylines for me in this book is a friendship that is built between two female characters- Riley and Taylor. And it's an honest to goodness real girl bestfriendship that is a great example of how true friends really do not only take care of each other but encourage and love one another. We definitely don't get enough of that in today's society.I know Choose Us is an amazingly written book because I didn't miss the hot and heavy that wasn't present. It's a great plot that doesn't need the steam to show the passion between the characters because it's well written in the action between Riley and Travis. Caylie Marcoe's words depict everything you need to feel without the risqué actions that keep you interested in most other novels.I wanna know.. WHAT BOOK IS RILEY READING throughout the story? And when an author can have me thinking outside the pages, that's a triple back flip. And I LOVE! that this story ended exactly where it began. Usually coming full circle leaves you with the thought "that's all?" ....Not this one.Bravo Mrs. Marcoe on your first publication! I always love a book I can share with younger girls and with Choose Us, I can do exactly that.Best compliment I can give an author is that I will recommend and read their book again, without a doubt, Choose Us will be exactly that.

Sweet Story but Writing Needs Improvement - Still Recommended
*3.5 Stars* Rounded DownI really enjoyed this story. It kept my attention and I couldn't wait to get back to the story when I had to be away. I enjoyed witnessing Riley and Travis's relationship morph from just friends to something more. The writing of the story could have used a little improvement. The emotions of the characters moved too fast. One moment they were calmly talking and then the next with no transition they were yelling and screaming. There was so much unnecessary yelling and screaming that it detracted from the story for me. There were also some grammatical errors and it felt like the book couldn't decide what tense it wanted to be.Some of the dialogue seemed a little immature for the age the characters were as well. Also, at more than one point I felt there were continuity problems. One example is that Riley complains that Travis won't call her but only a few paragraphs before that she says he texts her but she never answers. Maybe if she responded they could talk. Am I crazy thinking that? However, I do recommend this book. The story makes up for everything else.Rating: Light PG-13 - there is some kissing and in one scene it's a little heavy but not much else besides that. Thank goodness because I like my stories CLEAN. :)

choose us
I really like this book. I used to watch the bachelor and I thought it would be good good to have an inside woman, checking on the others. When I read the blur for Choose Us, I knew I had to have it, and I loved it!Lots of humour, great characters and I liked the little twist at the end with the selection of the final two. Looking forward to more from the author.

I adored Choose Us
I stumbled across Choose Us whilst browsing Amazon for new books to download. Spotting the hand holding cover, I had to know what the book was about. A famous BMX’er, his best friend as his PA, a Bachelor type reality dating show and a lot of confusion, jealousy and love mixed all together. Yupp, I had to get this book into my life asap. It’s safe to say I literally devoured this book, from front to back. I started it on my journey to work and by the time night fell, I was crying, smiling and in love with everything Travis and Riley. Caylie has a writing style that wins you over. You cant stop reading no matter what (I was on edge all throughout work wanting to get back to Travis and Riley) and I had so many emotions, feeling what Riley was feeling, my heart twinging and breaking and sighing at every page. You will hang on to every page, especially when there are girls competing and fighting for Travis’ attention, none of them knowing that Riley is undercover and reporting back to Travis about them. Friends to lover stories are always my favourite, mainly because of the deep connection they characters have and Travis and Riley are no different.I truly loved reading Choose Us. It’s so refreshing from other books I have read recently. It sucked me in, had me feeling every emotion and I felt connected to Riley and her growing feelings for her best friend but most of all? This is a book I need to buy in paperback and have it on my bookshelf.

this is three and a half but I prefer to round up
It's good book with a good premise, and the two characters had a great connection. But it lacked some of the wit that it started with. Still a great read and I recommend it to any young adult reader whose into the romance genre
