Casio CT-S1 Portable Piano keyboard Black

Basically a brilliant and highly portable piano/keyboard from Casio. Superb range of sounds and a lovely fluid action, plus great vintage looks and solid build quality. The only neg is a less than intuitive set of buttons, which hides away many of the CT’s useful features and sounds. A tiny bit quiet too, but fine for everyday use. Casio, please put the headphone jack up front and make the instrument buttons toggle thru. Beautiful job though, I bought two, red and white! Lightweight enough to rest on your lap whilst playing. Works well with a plug in pedal. There’s also a longer and louder 76 key version, and optional bluetooth add on.

Great portable keyboard that has good features and excellent sound. Bought for my little one who is learning to play the piano and he loves how easy it is to use and has fun using all the different sounds. It feels well made and is showing no signs of damage when it is moved about often when it is brought out and put away again. The quality is reflected in the price.

Casio CT-S1 is a good choice if you are looking for a portable, cheap and space-saving keyboard. Few sounds, good sounds, especially the Rhodes piano with phaser, the Wurlitzer piano, the Oberheim OBX8 and a sound called "Soundtrack". The action is decent. The connectivity could be better: it's easy to use it as a Midi controller with a Daw (you just need a USB data transfer cable), but if you need to record audio you definitely need an audio interface or something like a Zoom H1 essential. The sturdiness is great. The colours, the speakers and the fabric over the speakers are really nice.

Overall this is a brilliant mid tier keyboard. Sounds lovely through the speaker and headphones and it has a very dynamic range of sounds. The keys aren’t weighted but touch sensitivity is very good. My only issue is that it doesn’t connect directly to a DAW. I had to buy a 3.5mm to 6.35mm cable to connect into my Scarlett 2i2 pre-amp to get the full range of the keyboard sounds. I’d give it a 7/10 for recording. Pedals are sold separately but I got the MAudio Sp2 and it works fine.

Great piano tone, solid and robust build. Does everything you'd expect with key attack, it has a foot pedal port, but I had to buy the sustain pedal separately. I also bought the stand advertised with it, but there appears to be no fix method on either. so the keyboard just sits. I think the base of the stand isn't big enough and the who thing is quite wobbly. The keyboard does other sounds, organ, brass, wind etc but there's no screen or selector knobs just buttons so a bit difficult selecting without printing off a page out the manual which tells you which buttons and keys to press. I’ve been using the Casio CT-S1 and it’s a really good keyboard for the price. It has loads of useful features and sounds great for what it costs. The design is also really clean and minimal, so it looks good whether it’s set up on a desk or stored away. Pros: • Great value for money • Good range of features • Clean, modern design Cons: • Nothing I’ve noticed so far Overall, a great option if you want a good quality keyboard without spending loads.

Overall an excellent keyboard, light, a good construction, small enough to throw on the backseat of the car but with a couple of weaknesses that I have found in the first day’s use. Firstly, the USB host connection is micro USB not USB A. No micro USB cable is included. So if you’re connecting it to GarageBand or a music learning app, you may find that your device doesn’t recognise the piano. What I have found is that most micro usb cables are unsuitable, the only micro USB cable that worked was an old android micro USB to USB A charging cable. This cable was noticeably thicker than other cables. The next weakness is that the design sacrifices buttons for design aesthetics. This means pressing keys for changing settings thereby requiring a manual close by to refer to. However this doesn’t happen often, so it’s not a dealbreaker. Other than that, an excellent keyboard for the price. (Amazon- when selling a keyboard through Amazon Warehouse, please don’t sellotape the keys. This leaves a sticky residue that’s difficult to remove). #####UPDATE########## The Casio Bluetooth dongle makes a big difference to midi usability - this is a must buy. I have found out that the synth sound is an emulation of the Oberheim OB-Xa used on Van Haley’s “Jump”. Still enjoying this keyboard!

I got this as my first keyboard, and I’m seriously impressed! The sound is amazing for the price and has really nice piano tones, plus some cool vintage electric pianos and organs. The keys feel great too, full-size and responsive. It’s lightweight and super easy to carry around, which is perfect if you want to move it from room to room or take it somewhere. I love that it can run on batteries, so I don’t always have to plug it in. The controls are simple and easy to use, no messing around with complicated settings. For the price, this is an awesome keyboard, whether you’re just starting out or need something portable and fun. Definitely worth it!

Very cute. The keys are heavier than most keyboards in the same category, which is great. You feel the plastic, but there are some engravings on the keys so they're not too sleek. Very good response and nice sounds. It's basic, really helps ADHDers because you can focus on playing. It's not, of course, high end, but it is so so good for the price and very beautiful. 10/10.

I did a lot of research finding the right keyboard. At the end of the day I went for the Casio CT-S1. It offers a nice design, pretty good audio quality (for the price) and is a nice and responsive keyboard.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: It is a great keyboard with minimal features, that help in learning to play. As someone who wants to learn the skill, I did not want a lot of accompaniment styles and on board song banks, which I think is a dead payload, IMHO. This keyboard has great keys, with a nice texture that do not feel "plasticky". The keys feel real good. Features: Minimal features, that help you learn the skill of playing, and also get you to play the keyboard without a lot of distraction of fancy features. Quality: The keys have a great feel and do not make a residual plastic noise. They respond well to the touch. Music selection: The patches sound great. the piano patches have great variations and great sound. The sound is bright, warm, full and rich.

Llevaba un tiempo buscando un teclado secundario y portable para llevar conmigo cuando estoy de viaje y matar el gusanillo de tocar un poco. Ya sé que no es lo mismo que un piano "de verdad", pero no puedo llevarme mi piano acústico en el coche. He probado de todo: el P45 de Yamaha, el Privia de Casio, un teclado plegable de una marca que no mencionaré... Los primeros son pianos eléctricos más que decentes, pero demasiado voluminosos y pesados como para transportarlos con facilidad. En cuanto al teclado plegable... Uf... Digamos que se trata de una excelente idea pésimamente ejecutada, con un tacto penoso y un sonido aún peor (¿para cuándo un teclado plegable decente de una marca reconocida?). Una verdadera lástima, porque era comodísimo de transportar y, una vez desplegado, tenías un teclado de tamaño completo a tu disposición. Este nuevo Casiotone suena verdaderamente bien, como un Privia. Los altavoces proporcionan un sonido decente incluso a tope de volumen. El aspecto es robusto. El plástico de las teclas está levemente texturizado y es agradable, aunque esto irá en gustos, claro. El teclado en sí no es contrapesado, es decir, no tiene en absoluto el tacto de un piano acústico ni el de un buen piano eléctrico, pero ofrece cierta resistencia y tiene una buena sensibilidad. En la parte negativa: que solo tiene 61 teclas, claro. Se queda pequeño para interpretar muchas piezas, pero los teclados similares de 88 teclas son realmente enormes para un maletero convencional (me repito: ¡¿para cuándo un teclado plegable decente?!). Lo recomendaría para aquellas personas que quieren un teclado secundario fácil de transportar para viajar con él o para tocar en cualquier sitio fuera de casa. Para los principiantes puede servir para dar los primeros pasos sin un gran desembolso, pero durante muy poco tiempo: si continúas tocando el piano vas a necesitar un teclado completamente contrapesado donde la dureza y el tacto de las teclas sea más realista que en el Casiotone o en cualquier otro teclado de esta gama.
