Wooden Educational Counting Toys - Math Abacus Number Learning and Counting Stacker Stacking Game Toy for Kids 3 year old and up (with 55 Beads)

I have used this product with my kindergarten tutoring students who have difficulty understanding the concept of counting objects. The colorful visual representation on the ascending heights of rods helps my young students to literally see the difference between various numbers from one to ten. It can be used for beginning addition and subtraction concepts as well. The construction is sturdy. I feel it's a good value for the price.

Good quality and nice colors, so many ways to use it!

The pros: It seems to be made well (solid wood, good paint quality) and has a great design. Other wooden counting boards on the market are more complicated, so your child has to process not just quantity and color, but also different shapes and sizes (such as with the Melissa & Doug counting shape stacker). If you want to really focus on counting, quantities and early addition and subtraction, this board seems superior and less confusing for younger kids. This board also labels each peg with both a numeral (1, 2, 3) and a quantity (1 dot, 2 dots, 3 dots), which is really helpful for teaching numbers as quantities.The cons: We knew this was made in China when we ordered it, but there was no information provided to indicate it was also a company based in China (MuBei Toys Co. Ltd based in Zhejiang). This makes us worried about lead in the paint and finishes. Even for toys made in China, we'd prefer a U.S.-based company that has to comply with stricter toy safety standards. Of course, U.S.-based companies have toys recalled for lead, but at least there are some additional safeguards in place to catch this.So although we're sad to return it, we'd rather be safe than sorry. If your kid doesn't put things in their mouth like our preschooler still does, this otherwise seems well made.

Perfect for teaching the kids colors and counting numbers. Sturdy piece of fun, teaching tool for my four year old grand kids!!!! They love it, especially when they get a treat after "playing" with it a while, lol

I loved this. My toddler already puts the right color on the right stick. We count them and she loves to put them on her fingers.

Came exactly as it said it would and in the condition it promised.
