The Best Songs Ever: 71 All-Time Hits

I bought this book for an adult piano student of mine. He does best with identifiable, harmonious pieces that are beyond rank beginner but not overly challenging for a casual player. This is exactly the right level for his abilities and we both like the selections very much. The arrangements are nicely done, as well, so even though the pieces are simplified, they sound full and melodic. It would be much easier if the book had been spiral bound as keeping the pages open to the selected pages can be problematic.

my new all time favorite. So many beautiful songs here, i am really enjoying it! i would say 30's through 80's. I took about 3 years of lessons as a child, and have not played at all for the past 22 years. I go the "easy piano" version, which, as another reviewer, explained, is for intermediate players. If you are thinking of buying, please find that review, which explains all the versions of this book, it is very helpful. As a returning pianist, it is easy enough for me to play most on the first try. i have recently been playing randomly in public, and this is a lovely collection for easy listening and pleasing to many ears. I admit that i was never much of a jazz or big band listener, and so some of these songs i had to look up....Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald. Right for me to play at nursing homes, which is nice.

I ordered this book for an adult friend who is a beginner totally frustrated by her teacher's use of children's materials to teach. Adults learn differently! To help her get past her frustration, I order this and two other books with FAMILIAR music so all her senses can be employed as she learns.

My husband cannot believe that I can play like a professional now with this book. I know 99% of the songs on this book. It’s almost all my favorite songs! I love it! What I did, I wrote on the page the tempo, the style of harmony from the piano organ, and the voice of the instrument. It’s perfect !!’

A bit over simplified and sometimes convoluted transposing of band/group music for piano. Okay for easy reading, but if you are a good reader, buy the piano/vocal/guitar version of Best Songs Ever, which is the same music and publisher with better sounding versions.

I have thoroughly enjoyed "The Best Songs Ever". There are many different books to choose from. I am an advanced pianist, but it's so nice to just sit down and play my favorite songs. I haven't heard some of these songs in years and they are very easy to play. Since they are easy to play it opens the door to me adding my own accompaniment style. I would recommend these books to beginning musicians as well as the more well versed musician. Just have fun with it.

It is one of the most wonderful book I have know. It's writen on a amazing way to those music teachers like me, that know very well the music chords and harmony knowledge as a music subject. It has a compilation of the most beautiful and very well know melodies and songs for ever. It is just a musical jewel, I love it. I recomend this book to every pianist, music teacher and professional musician.
