Super little laptop
I like this. It's quick enough for general use, web and youtube etc. It also runs Apache Office very nicely.I also use it for 3D printing, it runs Creality slicing software perfectly well. The screen has good contrast with good view-ability in most conditions. The speakers and microphone are very good, loud and with a surprising amount of bass - many laptops have tinny nasty little speakers. The keyboard has good travel on the keys, and quick typing is easy. The laptop has a full size SD card slot, you can use uSD cards with a simple adaptor (which often comes free when you buy a uSD card). The 64GB drive is just enough these days, I bought this laptop to replace my old one which had a 32GB and with only 7GB free, the latest Windows Updates just would not fit regardless of what I did. With this 64GB drive the Windows updates just flew through with no problems. I've got around 17GB free now.Overall I can't really fault the device, especially at this price point.

Cheap and cheerful
I've got a premium laptop with i7 8gb ram 500gb ssd blah blah blah which is great. But I needed something to just run some invoicing software and a little "browsing" and that I wouldn't be too precious about. This fits the bill perfectly. It's not overkill and I would say would suit the needs of a huge number of people. Its not flashy but it does the job, it's very lightweight, rubber corners so you're not going to drop it anytime soon and generally tremendous value for money.

it worked straight out of the box
off/on switch is fidley , its level with the casing,so if you have large fingers the switch is difficult to use, windows crashed after 1 week ,but i was able to uninstall and reinstall and it all works well now, battery life is brilliant, and the price was good ,but they have lowered the price now,but it was still a bargain, as it has a three year warranty,i will keep everyone posted if it fails

In this price bracket this is the one to get
I've been on a journey through 3 different laptops around the 200 pound mark. Two were slightly more powerful and pricey than this and both had to be returned. This one for 149 is brilliant. Runs quick enough to use office type software. There is about 20gb hard drive free to play with so you have to be careful and keep weighty files off the laptop storage. The same with large programs though I have added scrivener which is writing software and it runs fine but I have a hunch more programs and games may impact performance. Works fine for basic internet and word processing tasks. Its very straightforward and seems robustly made. For the price at 149 it's a bargain. I've had laptops at this price that hang all the time when you press something. The processor is obviously good enough to overcome that on this case

A very cost-effective solution... once you banish Windows 10.
I've needed a new portable machine for ages, but seeing this as such a competitive price finally made me do something. So Windows 10 grumbled into life, requested personal data it doesn't need and proved to be the bloated dog I've always claimed it to be... enter Lubuntu. Much quicker on this low-spec machine than '10. But I'm not supposed to be reviewing the operating system, am I?The machine is compact, while avoiding a screen that's unusably small. The keyboard is pretty good, with well spaced keys of a decent size. Onboard storage could be a bit more generous, but it's built to a price. I don't rate the trackpad all that highly, and that plus the small SSD is why I only give it four stars. Scrolling is a bit cumbersome, requiring two fingers, and opening a window requires a "click"-like action rather than just tapping the surface of the trackpad. Still, I'll get used to those things even if I'd still criticise them. The HDMI port means I can hitch this up to a larger monitor at home and the SD card slot gives me some way of adding more storage space. The battery holds a decent charge - only time will tell how well it wears. Camera? Not really interested so not used it.I don't reckon the machine is going to prove all that upgradeable, but I haven't opened it up yet (although one day temptation will overcome me). Conclusion? No racing car, but a decent portable machine for not very much money that I'm glad to have purchased. It's followed me away from home on numerous occasions over the couple of months I've owned it and I think it should provide decent service for a few years yet.

Doesn't match reputation of brand
Bought this as current laptop struggling with capacity as new websites etc seem to demand more such from users. Initally good but then progressively poor resulting in it being returned under the trial period.Initially impressed as it started quickly with easy to follow set up and personalisation. However, after the system requested user to action an update, start up took up to a minute, chache filled up rapidly and files appearing on 'clean up' rapdily grew from 40K to over 115K. Cursor became juddery and could activate new pages not requested and websites locked up, with CPU usage at 100% I preferred to use Firefox than the installed Windows, which may have created a conflict and the poor performance.Maybe a more proficient laptop user could overcome the problems but the issues listed above outweighed its greater capacity such that I reverted back to the old one.

Good value
I paid £155 for this laptop and needed it for a specific purpose, which it fulfils perfectly. It runs Windows 10 well. I could criticise all sorts of things but for the money, with a 3 year warranty and bearing in mind Asus is a good brand, I don't think you can fault it. I suppose the reason for the price is at least in part because I gather that it cannot be upgraded to Windows 11. That doesn't bother me in the slightest but you might want to bear it in mind.
