Q: can it be used without the chain?

As far as I can tell, no. You might get away with pulling the shade down without the chain, but I’m not sure how you would get it back up.

Q: How dark are these ? We need like zero light coming in

Hi, this roller shade completely blocks light, however - depending on how you mount the roller - there could be light coming in from the sides if your shade is not mounted inside the window frame. We are extremely happy with this product as our use is more of a security issue.

Q: Can theses shades be shorten in length I need a 35”wide by 19” long for an awning window

Im unable to shorten mine without ruining the material. However, although my blinds are longer for a shorter window, I just roll them down to the length I need.
