The Dark Side of the Dales: True stories of murder, mystery and robbery in the Yorkshire Dales

I bought this for my step dad as a gift he said to say it was brilliant and that my mum has now started reading it too. He used the word gripped when describing reading the book.

Lovely to do in and out of and I haven't got to the ghosts yet!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was well researched and provided me with hours of enjoyable reading. It offers a glimpse at the darker parts of Yorkshire's history that would have been forgotten. The only negative I can find is the occasional grammatical and spelling errors. This book is well worth a read!

It was a present for a a friend

I bought this book as the story of my father in laws murder is included, we live very close to a lot of the locations in the book and it was really fascinating. The stories are well written and a lot of research has gone into them. There was a single paragraph in the story of my father in laws murder that just for a second brought him back and it really touched us as a family. Highly recommend mark as an author and this book is just brilliant.

"The Dark Side of The Dales" reflects to the reader all the murderous, mysterious and treacherous transactions going on in the quiet backwaters of Yorkshire over the last couple of hundred years. A must read for anyone, who loves mystery, crime and history, as well as "The Dales"An excellent book, well written and researched....I highly recommend.

I read The Dark Side Of The Dales in one day. Having read all of Mark's books, this is my favourite one to date. It has q bit of everything. Dark murders, mysteries and the supernatural. All the genres I love. Mark has developed a writing style of his own which I find addictive. I highly recommend this book to any lover of crime writing. Congrats Mark Bridgeman on another winner. I look forward to more to come.

Who knew so much has gone on in the beautiful Dales ?!Lots of in depth detail about different crimes in the area, and also the court cases.Interesting to learn how differently things were done in the past which lead to some sad miscarriages of justice.Although detailed, this is an easy read to keep anyone entertained.
