Toyota truck strength
Toyota truck strengthMany years ago I bought a Toyota pickup truck with $1800. I bought a used one because I could not buy an expensive new car. I did some repairs but I drove with low oil and a cylinder broke. I bought another used engine with $400 and I installed it. I drove several years but one day the water hoses become defective and the engine overheated and the engine head bent. I used what was good in the both defective engine and I reconstructed an engine which is running very well. The truck bed was 6` and I changed it to 8` and works fine.Recently I had to clean my 5 acres property and I used the truck to clean the vegetation by driving over it. I become stuck in a soft area with water in it. I used a winch to pull it out. Due to big effort the Toyota truck could break. My friend said that my truck is very strong and other car would not resist to such an effort. For a long time I was under the impression that American cars are built not to resist until these days when I have to buy another car. I visited a junk yard and looked at some cars they had for sale. I found a 1992 Ford Explorer with a very nice body. I bought it with $2000. I had a few minor works and the car works very well. Now I have two brands I like and recommend to other people. Ford and Toyota. That is despite the fact that Ford rejected recently one of my ideas about a car engine without pollution. I mention that I am an inventor and I have 7 inventions patented so far and another 8 great ideas among them the car engine without pollution, a car differential which engage all 4 wheels all the time, and a bicycle which does not create pressure between legs.

Decent reference, lacking a lot of details
As many other reviewers have stated, this book does a decent job of describing how the systems on these cars work and can be troubleshot. The first section on regular inspection and maintenance is great for someone new to working on their own car. Unfortunately there's a lot of missing detail. There's no info at all (that I can find) on the ADD 4WD system, which I had to troubleshoot using sources from elsewhere on the 'net. I would love part numbers but none are included. Many of the pictures and illustrations do not apply directly to my 1994 4Runner. Some procedures are really confusing because they refer to 3 or 4 other procedures throughout the manual, which are not always directly applicable to my model, so it's easy to get lost. All in all it's worth the money, especially as a first reference and complemented by the FSM. However, I really wish I could find something more comprehensive.

Better than the Chilton.
I first purchased a Chiltons manual for my vehicle, attempting to troubleshoot a wiring issue. Had some difficulty finding a solution and just purchased the Haynes manual (I bought both off Amazon). The Haynes manual (at least for my vehicle, has a much more comprehensive and easier to read wiring diagram than the Chilton.
