Tasty
Mushrooms can add a lot of flavor to a dish. Canned mushrooms are bland and boring and fresh mushrooms have a limited shelf life. Dried mushrooms pack a lot of flavor and have a long shelf life (I believe they are good for up to 2 years). A one ounce package of dried is the equivalent of a half pound of fresh. They need to be soaked in warm water for about an hour to hydrate before using. The water used for hydrating can be used in your dish for added flavor. It can also be reduced to concentrate the flavor. Once hydrated, the mushrooms can be used in any application that you would use fresh or canned. The Porcinis have a more bold earthy taste. They go very well in soup, stews and pasta sauce (be sure to add the hydrating water to the pasta sauce, yummy!).The FungusAmongUs is a high quality brand that I highly recommend.

Must Try!
These may be a bit pricey for the amount but I can tell you it’s well worth it. These came out fabulously. Tastes delicious. Hydrated well. Superb taste and quality.

Excellent quality
I love keeping these "on hand" in the freezer! It isn't always easy to find dried porcini when you need them. These were very convenient to order and were delicious in the mushroom soup that we made! Highly recommend!

Tasty, and there is no mushroom flavor quite like porcini mushrooms.
I used this package for two batches of red pasta sauce. It added an extra-rich, subtle flavor to each batch.I deducted a star because the flavor, although very good, was not quite as rich or fresh as some porcini dishes that I've eaten in good Italian restaurants. The mushrooms in those sauce came in larger, supple, thin slices which I assume to have been cut from fresh mushrooms. However, I also assume that the restaurant has a source for fresh mushrooms. I've looked off and on in various shops in New York but haven't been able to find fresh ones on sale. There is an Italian neighborhood in the Bronx with many excellent, authentic small groceries. I'll make a trip there soon to stock up on an assortment of Italian cheeses, pastas, and other delicacies. Maybe I'll find fresh porcinis there. In the meantime, I am content with this dried variety.

These are tasty, and good for snacks, too!
Have you ever dehydrated mushrooms? I have, and wow, they pack a punch of flavor when dried.I tried one of the dried porcini as is, and it tasted a bit like chocolate, it was so rich. Please try drying your own (on a paper towel will work, in a dry climate), and taste them in stages. If you can't, try FungusAmongUs brand 'shrooms--they are really good! I would put these in a trail mix or snack pack, as they are, dried.Organic is becoming more important as GMO infiltrates all our edibles, so please, support organic providers like FungusAmongUs!

Came in nice shape
It's great! Barely any crushed pieces or powder at the bottom. Exactly like the picture, and no worms that I can see. This was worth the extra dollar or two over other brands just to have neither of those two things happen, which I saw in the reviews when looking at other brands for Porcinis.

Weak flavor compared to high grade imports
Nice texture but surprisingly weak flavor compared to high grade imports. And I love Marcella Hazan Porcini Tomato sauce with Penne Ragat

Great porcinis!
Hard to find locally. These are pretty expensive. However, they are dried, so it doesn't take a lot. I use this for a mashed potato recipe (boil these with cut up potatoes, then mash up). Great flavor!
