Exceptional
I love cherries! I haven't been eating many due to the pit. This pitter is wonderful. Easy and fun to use. Pits 6 cherries at a time. It does a really good job. Once in awhile a pit will hang onto the bottom of the cherry, but that is rare. It's good quality and I like the sliding bottom that fits over most bowls. If you are looking for a home pitter for cherries or olives, I highly recommend this one. I very rarely write reviews. It has to be an exceptional item for me to do so.

Worked great to pit pounds of cherries
Went cherry picking and this device saved me a lot of time and pretty much worked without error. I think I picked out four stones in like 3 pounds of cherries. One you get into a routine you can really knock them out, it’s also not very hard to push through. Love this and wish I’d gotten it years ago.

Almost Super easy to clean, But super easy to use!
I purchased this because of a "spontaneity" purchase of what I thought were pitted cherries—5 pounds worth. Quickly realizing my mistake, I looked for a solution, and this was what I picked. Many options were available, but this gave me speed, the OXO brand (of which I own a large selection of their products), and somewhat easy cleanup.Pit 6 cherries or similarly sized fruits at once. The pits fall into a little tray for easy disposal. The fruit so pitted stays on the "+" shaped plungers. When done on a Pyrex mixing bowl, I had zero issues; any escaping "juice spray" went into the bowl. I was emptying the pit tray every 24 to 36 Cherries I pitted with this device although the tray always had room for more. I emptied it often to avoid a pit hitting another pit already in the tray and causing potential damage. The cleanup could have been better, but not too bad either. The top separates from the base and then into two separate parts. The white (outer cover) and the burgundy red inner plate separate from the pitter's main body. The burgundy inner plate is a bit flexible, and a gentle squeeze of the sides popped it free from the white outer cover. The pit tray is also easily removed. And has some sharp corners so a good fine brush or high pressure water is needed to completely clean it.What is not removable from this device and is, in fact, a bit fragile is the bottom tray. The Bottom tray is a translucent burgundy in color, and the fruit sits on this tray before being pitted. This is the only translucent part on the device. This tray gets the most of the juice and spray, and unless you constantly clean it, it gums up quickly. Worse, while this tray is held in by tiny plastic pins, it also has tiny sharp corners where juice collects. I had to use 2 different types of brushes to get the collected juice out of these corners.Overall, I would say this is a great product if you put a pound or two of appropriate fruits with it. However, the small size (meant for a home kitchen) means it can be awkward to pit much more than that at a time.By far faster than a single fruit pitter, but with the complexity of build comes the complexity of use and care. I used this with two different-sized bowls, and the expansion feature seemed to work well. However, I prefer not expanding it at all and use an appropriately sized glass bowl on a flat stable surface.

Best cherry pitter I've ever tried!
I had 40 pounds of cherries to process. I started pitting them, but it was slow, clumsy, and half the time the pit was still in the cherry. I gave up and threw away my old cherry pitters. By using an alternate method, I laboriously pitted 6 quarts of cherries, then quit and canned the remaining cherries with pits in. My muscles were sore, my back was aching from standing over the sink for more than an hour, pitting cherries, and my hand were stained red that didn't wash off for 2 days. After serious online searching I found the OXO Good Grips Quick Release Multi Cherry Pitter, and bought it. Although I was done processing cherries for this year, I determined to buy some more cherries to test it with. So I did. This cherry pitter is the best one I have ever tried! In addition to the manual pitters, I had tried one that sends cherries down a chute one at a time. It was a little faster than the manual ones, but no better at removing the pits. On this OXO Good Grips Quick Release Multi Cherry Pitter it doesn't matter what direction the cherries are facing, nor does size seem to matter. After removing the stems I put 6 cherries into the little cups and shove the top down. Crunch! (The sound of the tines going through the cherries and popping out the pits.) Usually 6 pits drop into the catcher, and 6 cherries are impaled on the pitter tines. Open the lid a little further and it tosses the cherries into your bowl below. Occasionally one will land back into the cups. Sometimes the pit will remain hanging on the cherry by a tag of cherry flesh. If you watch for those before tossing the cherries into the bowl, then there are NO pits left in the cherries! There is some flesh attached to the pits collected in the catcher, but no matter how you pit cherries, some of the flesh goes with the pit, so I don't call that a problem. On some cherries that bit of flesh is still hanging from the cherry, which is great, but it looks sort of like a pit, so has to be checked.Pitting cherries with this pitter was far leas messy than other methods I had tried. It still causes some juice, and I got some cherry juice on my hands -- but very little, and it washed off easily. I got more cherry juice stain on my hand from eating the pitted cherries than I did from pitting them. After the cherries are all pitted, clean-up is easy if you wash/rinse the pitter immediately. All the juice just rinses off easily. Whoever designed this pitter is a genius!

It works very well!
I wish I had thought of ordering this item years ago. It works great and does a fantastic job of removing the cherry pits. My relative will not eat cherries with the pits inside. I had been cutting them open and removing by hand until I saw this item for sale.
