Red Brass Round Wire (Dead Soft) 1/4 LB. Choose Gauge (14 Ga Coil - 20 Ft.)

This wire is definitely red brass, with a lovely gold color. I do consider it to be dead soft in temper, which is what I wanted. So why am I giving this only three stars? It's because of the gauge.There are two standards of measuring wire -- AWG (traditionally use for precious metals and jewelry) and SWG (typically wire used for more industrial or around-the-house use). The page didn't mention which standard was used, but here's the deal -- for gauges 20 and up (thinner), the measurements (wire diameter) are the same between the two systems.I ordered one spool in 22 gauge and one spool in 20 gauge. When I got them, I thought they looked a little heavier than I expected. I got out my wire measuring tool and...the gauges of the wire I received were 20 and 18 -- definitely not what I needed for the project. The spool marked 22 gauge was 20 gauge and the one marked 20 gauge was 18 gauge (these measurements are using the AWG standard.) But as I said -- 20 gauge and 22 gauges are the same diameters in both systems.Now, I can use these wires for other purposes (I do a lot of wire jewelry), but when I order gauges 20 through 30, I expect to get the wire of the proper measurement no matter what standard (AWG or SWG) is used.

I use it to make snares.

Great wire with excellent color. I ordered the 16ga and the 22ga wire for various projects and have used both quite a bit. The 16ga wire came pretty much as soft as soft as it could be and was excellent for some wire inlay I was doing. The 22ga, however, did have some noticeable spring to it and needed to be annealed before I was able to use it for inlay.Great wire overall but it would be nice if I'd be able to use the finer guage straight out if the box instead of heating it up first

Receive these wires today made my day. I can see that it’s kept in some clean and organized stock. Also absolutely well wrapped. The quality is exactly what it’s supposed to be in a good product. Perfect quality. It gives me the impression that I selected, wrapped and shipped it to myself. Even the deliver was very pleasant.

I was tired of the ugly blackened wire in my glass fusing projects, and this has held up well in my glass fusing for sun catchers, wind chimes, and jewelry. And it is cheaper than buying the specialty hi-fire wire.

Hard with some springiness, not what I wanted at all.

Easy to work with, only thing is the green ring.. a simple sealing with fix this. Overall I love it, created beautiful jewelry

I've been buying this wire for a while. It has just the right amount of bend, and is perfect for my crafting needs.
