Umbrella is gorgeous on the outside, inside lining is solid black nylon
I adore the top/outside of this umbrella! It's a gorgeous taupe/beige lace with a bit of sparkle, very true to the photos in the description, and looks amazing from anywhere except the inside. I've included a picture of the bag the umbrella comes in, which is made of the same materials, and shows the outside lace and the inside black.I like that it has waterproof functionality. The only issue is that the whole umbrella could have been that tan color, with a matching nylon lining inside, and it would've looked great from all angles, but instead, they made the inside a solid black, which looks stark/jarring against the muted color of the lace. And when I hold the umbrella over my shoulder like a parasol, I have that very dark lining right behind my head, which (at least in my case) looks awful for pictures, because my dark hair blends into the umbrella behind me. The product description also makes it seem like the inside lining is a lovely jacquard print black, but it's not. In my photo you can see the inside fabric has no pattern to it, it's just plasticky-looking.Given that I don't know why anyone would buy this decorative-looking item EXCEPT for situations where you want a beautiful lace umbrella/parasol, it makes sense that some folks would want to be able to take pictures with it open. And if I'm dressed for a Victorian festival or something, I want my hairstyle to be visible, not blend in with the inside of my umbrella.I did get this "used" from Amazon for a good price, so I think I'll probably keep it, because I really do love the outside, but I may try to spray paint, bleach or SOMETHING that black nylon. I would rather not cut if off because then I'd just end up with a lace parasol which are available all over Amazon for cheap, and I liked that this one was rainproof.(There was also a minor issue with the way the umbrella folds up, because it arrives with the joints sort of "broken"--bent the wrong way--and you have to snap them into place so that the umbrella will open correctly. This was easy enough to figure out in the moment and I wouldn't consider it an issue, but if you didn't want to risk popping the joints into place, you might think the entire thing had arrived with broken spokes. That said, I won't be popping them back to fold it up now that I've gotten it configured, because I worry they /will/ break, as they don't seem all that sturdy.)

Cute sun protection!
I purchased this for protection from the South Carolina sun. I am fair complected so I burn easily. Also, due to fibromyalgia, I am very sensitive to the heat, and can get sick if I get overheated. It IS a little finicky to get to the ribs all open (nothing that serious, just be aware that there isn't an automatic open button). When you first extend it, you may run into what others are saying "opened upside down". Just gradually, manually pull the ribs down one at a time, being sure each locks in place. Perhaps slightly time consuming (took me about 5 minutes to figure it out), but now that I have, it should be a breeze. Also, if you want to use the cute storage bag that came with it, after carefully closing the parasol and snapping the strap back around, insert it into the bag handle first. It's a beautiful item, and I will update my review after a few months of use.

Beautifully gorgeous sun protection
I have developed photosensitivity as yet another side effect from chemotherapy and need to protect my already fair skin and bald head from the intense Arizona spring/summer/all-year sun! I purchased the black and tan and sparkly sun-brella in hopes it would help me when I am outside. Works beautifully. And each time I pop it open, I get so many compliments from passers-by.The only negative is that it is a bit backwards to open and close, having to open each rib flat before opening the push-open ring and then having to manually fold it in reverse when closing. Not sure why it doesn't pop open like an ordinary umbrella. But even that annoyance doesn't detract from how happy I am with this purchase meeting the unexpected need for real shade.

Sooooo helpful with fair skin
I have fair skin & really need strong sun protection -- plus I hate the heat. The reflective layer in this parasol makes a HUGE difference in the temperature underneath it. I carry it almost everywhere. I leave it unfolded, just sliding the inner pole in when not in use. It sticks a little bit when trying to get it to click in place when I'm using it, but nothing too frustrating.Aesthetically, it is gorgeous. I get compliments EVERY time I carry it. It really looks special. So super-shade+beauty = A+++ for me. I have several of them now, which I keep in different places so I'm never without.

Versatile
I needed this for a Steampunk-themed outing where I expected a lot of sun. It did a good job keeping the sun off. But the wind also came up and it withstood several unexpected gusts of wind. I agree with other reviewers that putting it up is unnecessarily fidgety so I just leave it up or only partially collapse it.
