You can use staples for this fence - use the longest you can get 9/l6" if you are using a staple gun. I used a regular fence staple which is working very well. As for durability remember it is a reed fence but ours has been up for almost a year now and has gone thru many rain storms and snow. My frame work is made up of 4x4 posts and 2x4's because my wife wanted to hang flower baskets and other outdoor decor.
