Can i connect hdmi arc from tv to this device and take optical output to soundbar. in that case, can i control the volume using the tv remote?

This configuration didn't work for me. The TV remote volume control worked for RCA and headphone output, but not optical. The sound came through, but I had to use the sound system remote to control the volume. I will be returning it soon.
