If i wear half size should i go up or down a size?

I have sciatica so I'm looking for a flip flop that provides arch support. Would you recommend this sandal?

My previous purchase of 11d is very comfortable - is this 11m the same as 11d ?? spenco men's yumi canvas sandal, straw/java/cork, 11m medium usspenc

Rubber outsole on these? Spenco decided to lose the rubber outsole on some models, a slippery mistake.. No rubber = unsafe & no durability.
