These speakers totally out performs my Jvc cs-j620 which is rated for 50 watt rms and 300 watt max. I was running all 4 doors with the jvc. First thing i noticed was the magnet size which was 3 times bigger plus at 4 pounds i kind of new it would be better. I never expected the ds-18 to be so much more. Im only running them off my deck which is around 50 watts a channel. They are so much more clearer and highs are crisp. So i put them on my rear doors and now the sound is unbalanced. You can literally hear all the sound from the back speakers. Looks like I will be changing my front speakers as well but by doing this I know I'll have to upgrade my sub which is only a 12" running off a 200 watt rms amp.

REALLY nice midrange speakers! Paired with an 8" mid woofer and some sparkly 3.5 in Neo tweeters into a 1 Cu ft vocal resonation chamber on separate amplifiers/frequency ranges... layered over 2 channel 1000watt 12 subs ported thru a central, single pass, sonic rats maze. Results? Spectacular! its like a Rap/concerto/metal box all in one! For under a grand! These speakers now support the mid-voice to low tweeter range. About 800hz to about 6000hz smack in the median range. Vocally they shine like the sun! /// Freddy Mercury would be like...Wuh?! Bullocks That IS me! /// YMMV :) These mids are one part of a whole. Alone they perform very nice with a bit of base and good high. But set in a tuned component system? They are stars! Literally a voice box. But a bit lean on the lower registers. pair with some 6.5 , 8, mids and they fill in all the lil bits the 6's or 8s' are dim on like like stars! Takes away the muddy .
