Sinister,with it's own strange beauty.
I've never seen the film Blue Velvet, and bought this album, purely because Angelo Badalementi's music, intrigues me.I love the music he wrote for Twin Peaks, and after reading one review, which considered this to be a forerunner to that music, decided to take a chance on this album. The album is split into two halves, starting with, what at first, sounds like typical film music, but you soon find,it has a sinister twist, which gives it a very dark mood. It's like one of those bad dreams you may have, where you're desperate to wake up,and when you think you have woken, you find your still caught in the dream,as the second half of the album, takes you to somewhere, that is just as surreal. This album will not be to everyone's taste, but if the price you pay, will not hurt too much,if you find your disappointed,it's worth taking a chance on.

The Mysteries Of Lynch And Badalamenti
"Blue Velvet" was composer Angelo Badalamenti's first collaboration with David Lynch, and what a start! This is a wonderful soundtrack, featuring Badalamenti's mysterious and romantic string pieces alongside the classic title track, Ketty Lester's version of "Love Letters", and, most memorably, Roy Orbison's haunting "In Dreams".This album also marks the Lynch debut of vocalist Julee Cruise, later to find international fame with Twin Peaks' "Falling". Here she lends her dreamlike voice to "The Mysteries Of Love" (lyrics by Lynch). Badalamenti's string and horn versions of the same track are utterly beautiful. The deeply disturbing subject matter of the film is conveyed through several unsettling passages representing the villainous Frank Booth. This album is a fantastic companion to the film, and marked the beginning of one of the greatest composer-director partnerships in modern cinema. An essential purchase for any Lynch fan.
