Excellent.
This is the first book of the Honey and Ice books and what a brilliant start it is.From the start you are glued to it. I actually read this book on 6th July 2021 and the other two, as soon as I bought them!! So this review is more of an update!!This tale grips you from the very first page and you cannot help but fall in love with Faolan, but I warn you, with Alli....aka Kallic....who ends up in an orphanage once her mother died. Her father refused to claim her and sends his guards to ensure that she remains a secret!!She is a survivor but more than that a fighter. She takes charge of her life and works hard to become an Elite. More importantly, to become independent with a home, stipend, a status, choice of whatever job she wishes to have and a pride born of hard work, respect and a fierce self worth she never had before!!What could possibly go wrong, after getting everything she yearned for, stability!!If you want the answers, then don't dilly dally!! Go to the store and buy this book!!Below is the update!!****Added Review****I've only just bought the audios, for all of the books in this series!! So today I read and listened to this!!I love to be able to read and listen to the books. The reason is that the right narrator can, and often does, bring all of the characters life and injecting them with a personality that takes the book to new and enjoyable heights!!However, there is a serious issue as it appears that the narrator was given a different script!! There are pages that just aren't in the book at all!! Also pages of other parts written in chapter two, are actually found to be in chapter three, and they don't really fit in within that part!!Regardless, it's still worth the money to buy both, as the narrator Elizabeth Evans is one of the very best narrators around. Yet again she certainly makes any book she narrates, one that is worth twice as many stars and it's a shame I can't give them here!!So ignoring the odd missing sentence and vice versa and obviously chapter two and three. And not forgetting, that they lead us through two different occasions that Alli almost......Well like I said you'll need to buy both and they really are worth it.Excellent writing ladies and an excellent performance from Elizabeth,WELL DONE LADIES ππ

Thoroughly enjoyed
To be honest I got a bit worried this was heading towards a kick-ass girl that couldn't have a thought that didn't include wanting to jump someone's bones, but thankfully those scenes/thoughts didn't saturate what otherwise is a great story. Very happy that plot and building were important and the romance element not taking centre stage, I hope that continues though the trilogy. Don't get me wrong I love some romance tension but not to the extent it's the only thing a character can think off.Looking forward to the next book.

Epic adventure!
Such a good read. I was just hoping for something entertaining but this was far far more than that. I've been looking for something to fill the void since I finished all the SJ Maas books and this did it.

Omg, What A Start To A New Series!ππππππ₯
A Wondrous New World.πβ¨ππππ₯A Court of Honey and Ash (The Honey and Ice Series Book 1)These Authors have written this book with one shared brain, I'm certain, because it's flawless!π We start it in the Fae world of Underhill where we meet Kallik aka Alli. She's in a trial with 30+ other orphaned or unclaimed fae. They're trying to gain their places in the Fae society after 8 years of training. Once they've all finished they have to swear an oath to Underhill, it's performed by the Seelie Court's Oracle. When Underhill shatters as Alli swears her oath, the earth shakes & all fae, Seelie & Unseelie alike, are in danger. Alli especially!!π³π₯I absolutely loved this story & it's character's. Alli & her sister from another mister Cinth, are funny together but also so loyal & honest, even when it's something hard.π I loathed a few character's, they're easy to spot, trust me!π‘ Faolan aka Lan, is a man with layers and I need him peeled!π He's super sexy, brooding & the whole forbidden thing is just so yummy.π Ruby is a big surprise & I think Drake has more to give.πThis is a cross of epic & urban fantasy I'd say. There's so much scope left in the story & especially the world's these two Author's are building. I'm as drawn to that as I am the people, story, creatures & of course the magic!π There are secrets swirling around Alli & possibly Lan, too.π² It ended on such a dramatic hook that I'm chomping at the bit for book #2 already. That dream though? It's got me thinking.ππDebbie, 1970, UK

Fabulous β₯οΈ
What an amazing writing combo Shannon and Kelly are. Iβm a long term Shannon fan and recently became a Kelly fan π each on their own create wonderful worlds and players in those worlds, together their magic has combined to create this fabulous Honey and Ice world. Yet again I was drawn into the story more and more as the twists and turns became twistier and turnier (prob not a real word, but you know what I mean!) and I fell more in love with the characters the more I read. Action, intrigue, depth, magic, a strong female with a heart, deplorable baddies and the start of a slow burn with a fair few complications to overcome romance. Yep, Iβm hooked! Oh and I loved the Easter eggs πβ₯οΈ

I'm so obsessed with this series
Alli is half human and half fae. Forced to compete in the trials at Underhill to gain status among the fae, Alli comes out on top but at a price. She destroyed Underhill and now she needs to find a way to fix it before her life is taken. But Alli doesn't know if she can trust the people she meets on her journey. And when the boy she had always liked comes after her, Alli needs to decide if it's worth letting he in once again.I can't wait to see how the story develops!

Loved the premise, but the language was too youthful
I really enjoyed the ideas behind the story, but the language was far too youthful for me personally. In order for the book to be 'wow' the author(s) needs to take a leaf out of Natalia Jasters school of amazingness and flesh out the sentences a tad more. I liked it, but I could have loved it.
