Nice Unit
Exactly what I needed for my apartment that has an old fridge with no ice maker. I was tired of ice trays....no longer need them now. Works perfectly! I don't consider it noisy....it makes a kind of high humming sound (not loud), and you can hear the water when its filling....but I am not using it in a small office or bedroom. Its very easy to use and fill. The cons are the size of the cubes.....tiny and small. But that's not really an issue for me. The set up took some time since I followed the procedure to clean and rinse it. I do wish it made a sound when it needs water or when the basket is full. And as some have mentioned, the plug on the bottom of the reservoir can be tricky to use. I would also like to know the amount of energy it uses.If I have any issues, I will update my review. But I am overall pleased with the machine.

LEAKY! After just 6 weeks!
We bought this on Oct 1st 2021, returned on Dec 7th...It started leaking about 3 weeks ago, so at only 6 weeks of use I noticed it was leaking on the counter. Upon inspection, I found it was leaking from the back near the electrical cord! The leak drips over some wires, pools on some bolts (that already developed rust and calcium*), and then pours out the back when it's full enough. I wasn't very happy with it to begin with, but leaking was the last straw!1st...The "large" ice is the same size as our previous countertop ice maker's small setting.2nd...The machine pushes so much heat from the fan on the right that nothing can be near that side.3rd...The heat this machine puts off also makes the ice melt too fast.4th...The black rubber feet leave marks on my white countertop.I was disappointed, but okay dealing with it's issues...until the leaking and rust? After only 6 weeks? NOPE*Pictures of the leaky water and the mess it was creating were taken through vent holes on the left side of the machine.

Worked as expected, and fast, until it malfunctioned
I would give it a one start, because it malfunctioned in just a few months and stopped making ice, but the customer service was pretty good. If it matters to you, this is not manufactured by Igloo. Their name is just on it. The manufacturer did give me prompt customer service, waiting for a refund that was submitted today. It makes a batch of ice in like 7 minutes. It’s easy to use. I didn’t expect to be able to hear it running; it’s about as loud as a big fan.You definitely need to rinse out the water basin frequently, probably weekly. After a month of use mine had a slimy film in the bottom, which isn't surprising from having fresh water constantly sitting in there. I'd recommend just pulling the plug and spraying it out with water weekly. And I clean it monthly as directed. It's easy to clean. It has a cleaning function to run water and vinegar through the machine. Then you just scrub out the bin with water and dish soap (and rinse really well). It has a drain valve on the bottom, so you don't have to tip the machine.

works great
I have used many portable ice makers over the years. This one in design and use beat all previous ones I have ever used or bought. The self cleaning feature is fantastic. The drain location is also very good when you do need to clean the unit easily will little to no mess. So far, I have not had any issues over the last 10 months of very heavy use.The only two things that is a negative is the size of the ice cube and how much it produces. The large with this unit is basically the small cube size of the competitors. However, this unit has been very reliable. The amount of ice produced is not as advertised. The real world use is about 14 to 18 pounds a day depending on temperature. It makes more ice in cooler weather/ winter than during hot days or summer. Still, it makes plenty of ice for my and anyone else's needs.

Quit Making Ice after 1 Week
I had a fantastic Igloo Ice Maker than made ice for well over 2 years. Basket always full and never a single problem. I have since bought and returned 3 (maybe 4 including another Igloo) counter top ice makers that either did not work or only partially filled the ice basket requiring that the ice had to be emptied every hour or so to keep it making ice. I began to think that my wonderful old Igloo ice maker maybe had not been as good as I remembered. Finally I got an Insignia and it is just as great as my old Igloo. BUT . . . I do not know what to advise you. I am not sure you can determine quality by manufacturer or price or perhaps even not even Mfr Part No. There are superb counter top ice makers out there that fill their baskets and just keep on keeping on. But please know, these are quite complex machines that do not like to be moved around a lot or turned upside down. Best of luck in finding the right one for you.
