Worth every penny!
This system was truly a lifesaver. I had an aggressive thumb sucker, so much so that her teeth were starting to move forward and she had huge blisters/callouses on both of her thumbs. She sucked to go to sleep, ride in the car, even while she was talking she would sometimes refuse to take her thumb out of her mouth. We tried everything: educating her on the bad effect the thumb sucking was having on her teeth, bad tasting nail polish, discouraging her sucking during sit-down times, bribing with daily rewards, but nothing seemed to work.We let her know that we were going to help her stop the habit with these devices, and showed her the star chart included. When the chart is finished, we told her, she would be getting a ride-on toy she has been wanting. We also tied permission to watch her favorite tv show to be dependent upon her completing the previous day successfully without sucking her thumb.Warning: the first week was HARD. The first two days I had adjusted the band too tight, and the device ended up leaving red marks on her hands. On the third day, we found a fit that worked for us, and though *technically* she could get out of it, we warned if she did so we would tighten the device further and it encouraged her to leave it on. Even so, the sucking had already dropped dramatically on day 1, by day 3 she only sucked to try to get a reaction from us, and by day 7 she realized the daily rewards and her favorite TV show were more valuable than the lackluster reward of her diminished thumb sucking abilities with the device. Bedtime was a constant nightmare that first week as she learned how to fall asleep without her thumb crutch.Day 8 was the first day she went all day without sucking her thumb, and with only one time when she was really upset on day 22, she never tried sucking again. By day 25, I started taking the device off for very dirty activities, like play dough or cookie baking, then putting it back on. By day 29 we phased out of the device entirely, and she is currently on her 4th day without wearing the device at all and still no thumb sucking. It’s a miracle!Pros: design, toddler may like the choice of wrist bands, easily washableCons: Lots of people will judge you for putting the device on your child (not that I cared), the device will start to get tinged over time, and getting the right fit is a bit difficult at first. It’s expensive if you need two devices like I did. I also wouldn’t recommend this unless your toddler is verbal enough to understand why you’re doing it and the reward system you set up for them.Overall, if I had to do this all over again, I would buy this system in a heartbeat. It is the only thing that has produced results, and it took less than 60 days to do so. Would highly recommend!!!

I can't believe it worked
My daughter is almost 8 and had a horrible thumb sucking habit. We tried everything, The bad tasting polish, discipline, positive reinforcement, long conversations, putting a sock on her hand. Nothing worked. She wore this thing for 12 days straight, and kicked the habit, it has now been 4 days without having to wear it and she has not sucked her thumb which is still absolutely shocking to me. It really worked! It's expensive, but worth every penny! It was easy to use, kids can't get it off themselves unless they cut it off with scissors. She did not mind wearing it, it didn't hurt her or anything. Total lifesaver! I'd recommend this to anyone whose child has a thumb sucking problem

Great Product, Please Improve Design
Update: After 30 days my daughter no longer sucks her thumb! This worked wonders for us. We had special mystery surprises every morning so that she looks forward to keeping on her thumb guard and we painted her nails every week. She did have a rash on one part of her hand but like another reviewer said, we used sensitive medical tape and some thin gauze over the area for a week. After a week, the rash went away.Great product, it is really helping my 3 year old. However, design could be improved with the wristband requirement. Wristbands are one use only and a pack of 60 bands are $25. This makes the entire product more expensive than necessary and wasteful.

IT WORKS!!!
T-Guard works. It is a very well designed device that prevent sucking and it is confortable and easy to use. With that said it is not perfect, sizing can be tricky and the kid and specially the extra wrist band are expensive (fortunately we found a way around that). My 4 year old was a full time thumb sucker. Before we bought the guard I measured his thumb and I got a medium according with the chart, looking back I think the small would have been more appropriate. We have been talking a lot about why he should break the habit and I even show him videos of the thumb guard ahead of time. However, I knew that this was going to be a very difficult battle and it occurred to me that Santa may be able to help. My son believe that the guard came from Santa and was delivered to him by the Elf on Thanksgiving with a letter from Santa where he promise a treat every night if he keep it on and extra gift on Christmas day!. This motivation was paramount to the success of the treatment because, with the exception of the first day when he had a hard time, my son was very willing to keep the guard on.Because the device was a little big for him I have to tied as much as possible the wrist band and even then, with enough effort, he could take it off. After 48 hours we were having some sores due to the band. Fortunately, at that point I was able to lose the band and my son never attempted to take the guard off.One of the thing I love the most is that he can do everything including watching and drying his hand with the guard. The direction said to remove the guard once a day but after a few days we decided that wasn't necessary. We change the wrist band every other day. I am glad that we did that because now I have extra bands, which is good because we are now using the guard at bed time. So far the treatment has been very successful but once in while just before he falls of sleep or when he is waking up he wants to suck. Although, there are not more prices from Santa, my son understand his big accomplishment and he doesn't want to suck any more and he is happy to put the guard at night.I am very happy we got this product, with the right motivation and this great device breaking the sucking habit was much easier that I ever expected. Worth every penny!!
