Good stuff!!
So, I didn’t have any prior experience buying or using shea butter before purchasing this. However, I needed some for a natural deodorant recipe so I decided to look on Amazon. I wanted something raw and not whipped. After spending a few days researching what good quality, pure, unrefined shea butter is and checking out other options, I settled on this one. It must be noted that I’m super picky too with all my purchases. Not only did the admirable values of this seller stick out to me, but this shea butter in particular had the least amount of negative reviews. Anyway, aside from purchasing this shea butter, you are supporting something bigger; so that’s cool. Plus it’s a fairly traded product, which is rare.Fortunately, this shea butter was everything I hoped it would be. It actually surprised me with how it has treated my sensitive skin to the point that I would say this is a skincare staple for me now. In regards to quality, the shea butter I received was a pale yellow color, which was a pretty good sign of authenticity and purity to me. The texture was dense, thick, and softest on the outside. You can press your finger into it and slowly penetrate it, basically. Upon putting some in my hands and using my body heat to melt it, I noticed a kind of grit but it ended up dissolving. So, I’m unsure if that’s an iffy quality or if it means it was melted more than once but it’s not a big deal to me. The smell is simply smokey, like the flavoring added to meat when you grill it, which I don’t have a problem with, as the smell isn’t too overpowering that it lingers or dominates. So the overall experience with this shea butter has been great. I don’t think I will stray to another seller.

I'm a black female..in my early 30s...and I had been looking for a raw all natural shea butter for the past few months. I've gone to my local beauty supply store and they would have all different types of shea butter...some have mid-dark yellow color or some were off white. There were claims of the products being 100% real shea butter...but I couldn't tell if I was picking the right one. So, I done a lil research on what shea butter should look like. I read a few articles specifying that most natural shea butter should be a light yellowish colour and have a nutty smell to it. Of course none in the BSS had those qualities, instead they were brick hard in the containers and had no smell. When using the fake brands....I really didn't see any changes on my skin...especially on my face, but I continued to use it anyway since I didn't want to waste my money (its was only 6 bucks). Do keep in mind, I use to get a lot of bumps on my chin and on my forehead and also had discoloration on my left cheek. One day I was scrolling down on my facebook and saw fair tale ghana...they had a video (they still do) showing how the real shea butter is made. I watched it and was very impressed on how the women back in Africa makes this wonderful all natural product...its REAL and very PURE!!! No fillers, no additives, no artificial coloring. That is exactly what my face and body didn't need. I was so happy after watching the video, I decided that week to purchase it. Finally, after placing the order, my shea butter arrived. I took it out the package and my god is was sooooooo soft and smooth to the touch...it had a light yellowish colour to it and it smelled a bit nutty. I washed my face everyday for a week with another product I use as well (Dead Seacrets Salt and Oil scrub...Ocean Mist) and then apply a small amount of the shea butter to my face. Yeeeesssssss lordt!!!! I noticed a major change in just a few days...no bumps, no scarring from the bumps, no discoloration and my face was so soft and healthy looking. I had received a lot of compliments from people who would ask how'd my face look so beautiful and healthy...some even thought I was wearing an all natural makeup (I don't wear any makeup). This product is the bomb..and also note I just ordered at the same time I'm writing this review and can't wait till I get it on Monday. Fairtale Ghana, you females are amazing and I thank you so much for putting out this product and making sure the women in Africa gets paid to the fullest so they could care for their love ones and continue to grow as a family. I will continue buying this product for as long as I live.Update 12/21/2018:I see a lot of people complaining about the texture, smell, and the consistency of this product. It works best when you blend it with cocoa butter till smooth, store in the fridge for 30 minutes, blend it again till smooth, and then use your whisk and whip it for 20 minutes till its nice and fluffy. Of course use an electrical mixer...but once its whipped...its amazing. I sometimes add my favorite Jergens lotion, coconut, and grapeseed oil to the mix to make it nice and smooth. You can add fragrances too. Please do not open the package and just use it without blending. Peace!!!

Others seemed legitimately unrefined and were good. Another was quite good and while I believe ...
I have tried many different shea butters, all raw/unrefined, high quality stuff or at least advertised as much, and I have had mixed experiences... Some went on dry and didn't seem to moisturize at all, usually those were the ones that seemed the most refined despite what was advertised. Others seemed legitimately unrefined and were good. Another was quite good and while I believe it was mostly unrefined, it seemed to be pre-softened which actually made it not go as far because it wasn't as dense. FairTaleGhana is BY FAR the best shea butter I have ever tried!! It's clearly unrefined, very fresh and natural and unadulterated, and very moisturizing! It's not greasy like another good, but seemingly pre-softened shea butter I've tried. I really feel like I'm getting all the vitamins and active nutrients that makes shea so great, with this product - and in fact, I actually KNOW that I am because I know exactly where it's coming from and that it's truly unrefined (the transparency is so refreshing!). I love that you deal with the actual manufacturers as opposed to distributors which can sometimes result in an adulterated product or one that is not as fresh. I love the transparency of this company and I love that I'm supporting the women employed while buying a product I'd be purchasing anyway!!I've only used it for one day so far, I'm excited to see the difference it makes but already my skin feels very moisturized and soft. My hands have been dry lately from over washing with a harsher soap than I'd prefer and I've been using another shea butter to help protect them, but I just opened my FairTaleGhana shea last night and was able to use it and this is the first time in a long time that my hands feel quenched.Another thing I'm loving is that even though this is a little less expensive than another shea butter I had gotten that was also a good quality (the one I described as seeming pre-softened but still highly quality - a bit fluffier but definitely not whipped or anything), once again, not only is it the best quality I've tried, but it goes a longer way! The packages are the same size, but what I do is I transport my shea into a glass jar. With the other brand, I'm able to fit a full package into a jar whereas FairTaleGhana, I was not able to fit all of a single package into my shea jar so I have quite a bit left over.I placed my order to stock up for over the summer and was a bit worried because when I got them, they FELT smaller than the other brand I've been getting, but turns out it's just because they're more DENSE and as I've just explained, you actually get more. Plus, you need way less - a little goes a long way. It's hard but usable where you don't have to heat it or anything. I will be buying from this brand from now on.It's also organic naturally, but a lot of shea butters aren't certified organic because they're wildly grown and it would be really expensive or even impossible to do (going by my basic understanding), so you know you're not getting pesticides or anything, but a lot of companies still label organic even if they're not certified... it's understandable because the shea is actually organic, but I really like when companies are strict with label laws and all that. So I love that FairTaleGhana describes and even shows where their shea comes from and can explain the whole thing when asked, but still sticks to the strict labeling laws. To me, adhering to label laws so strictly is a good sign of overall integrity and legitimacy.
