Did not "diminish minor scratches" as claimed.
I gave 3 stars because it DOES result in a satin (not gloss) finish after extensive buffing. I bought Briwax Mahogany hoping it would be a one-step solution to reconditioning my 1950's dining room chairs before recovering the seats. However, it did not cover even minor scratches so I had to use a scratch cover pen to color the many scratches on the chairs. Also, this obviously strong product did not clean the surface so I had to wipe off water spots and such before waxing. Lengthy buffing is necessary to remove the waxy film left although a stronger person may have had an easier time it. Once all of these steps were completed the chairs did look great but this expensive product did not perform as promised.

Beautiful and easy finish
I ordered an oval mirror with a weathered wood frame from Restoration Hardware. In the photo, the frame appeared to be warm tones. However, when it arrived, it was grey-toned and not appropriate for my house. Rather than return it, I ordered the BriWax Antique Mahogany. This was my first time using the product, so I was taking a chance. Thankfully everything turned out perfect. I applied the wax with 0000 steel wool, let it dry and then buffed it with a soft rag. The results were beautiful. The mirror frame turned a warm pale mahogany tone, perfect for my antique pine chest of drawers. It's easy to apply, but do it outside or in a well-ventilated room. The fumes are strong. Also wear rubber gloves, because this stuff stains. (Be sure to tuck in your shirt - I had to throw mine out afterwards, because I didn't tuck it in, and it fell onto the mirror.)I subsequently used this on a weathered desk from Restoration Hardware, also with spectacular results. I had a glass top made for the desk, which protects the finish.

Toluene, you are not welcome here any more...
Whoa! This stuff smells like something that shouldn't be allowed in a home shop. The smell is absolutely overwhelming and I've used quite a few oil-based stinkers in my day. The consistency is of soft butter and the smell, did I mention the smell?, is absolutely horrible. I have heard it said that some people like the smell, I would like to meet those people and find out whether they are conscious or not. I had the can open for about 5 minutes when my wife came from upstairs and asked what the heck the smell was. I gave up, lidded the can, left the windows open, and dropped this in the donation pile for the local home resource center. If you're looking for a much better wax in general and one that actually smells GOOD, try Antiquax Brown and their clear formulation. Both of these are brilliant waxes that go on just as easily, buff much easier, and don't leave as heavy of a wax buildup. I have given up on Briwax (at least the toluene formulations) and have switched wholly to Antiquax, which I would highly recommend.

Extremely satisfied
I applied this product on a table that had faded due to the direct sunlight that had lightened the antigue mohogany finish. After one application it resumed its initial dark lustre and both my wife and I are extremely pleased with this product and have reccomended it to our friends and relatives.
