Cool game, but...
This is a cool game, but i think you get trophies far too often in this game. I don't like that. This is not a game for children. Why then, so often? 🙄🙄🙄

This was a gift but the recipient rated it favourably
Amazon keeps hassling me to write a review for this product. This was a gift. I cannot verify any details about the product myself but I can say that the recipient was very pleased and that they recommended the product favourably.

Enjoyable but short horror game
I was looking forward to playing The Medium, but when reviews came out I was disappointed to hear that the game was very short and quite easy, making it not really worth the full price. However, I waited for a sale, and I think that as a mid price game, it works better. The story is not spectacular, but it serves you some spookiness and gets you from A to B. The best part of this game is how it looks. The split screen real world/spirit world gimmick is great, and works well. The controls are easy to use, and gameplay is easy. There are lots of things to see and interact with, and the game is mostly made up of collecting things, puzzle solving, and a few stealth sections. It's a nice easy platinum for us trophy hunters, and I found it to be an enjoyable gameplay experience, just a bit short to justify the full price.

A beautiful game, heavily influenced by early fixed camera era ie resident evil 1/2
The medium offers fans of a classic horror/thriller game a chance to revisit their youth by playing a game heavily influenced by games such as resident evil (fixed camera) and silent hill 1/2 for the tone or story of the game.Without spoiling any of the story. The game is set in a post communist Poland. And follows spirit medium Marianne. On a journey of discovery after a random phone call let’s her know that she isn’t alone, and they know of her recurring dream/ability and to head to the Niwa workers resort to uncover the origin of her gifts. The setting alone allows for the player to delve into interesting location with, a lot to learn, see and discover. All with a building sense of dread, and a unnerving feeling of something bad has happened. The game does use a mechanic which leads to the screen being split. Allowing the player to see the present world and the spirit world at the same time. Allowing for some clever use of puzzles, personally I found this quite jarring sometimes as it’s difficult to know which half to follow in which to progress the story. However I believe the story and gameplay can help lift it above such criticism.I hope you enjoy the game as much as I did, and find the above helpful in your choice.

The Mediocre
The Medium is another of those games that probably looked great on paper but I haven't enjoyed it in execution. The graphics are one of the better aspects of the game as I cannot fault them other than some blandness. I made it just past Thomas' office and the hotel/hospital theme thus far in addition to the funeral home at the beginning didn't do much to stand out. The saving grace for graphics is that you often exist in two dimensions at once. These contrast greatly in terms of graphics and bring a welcome change. The character models are fine and do a good job on the ambient horror front, but the rest of the game lets it down. The gameplay is where the game falls flat. If you're expecting anything other than a glorified walking simulator or point and click, you will be disappointed like I was. I have to prioritise a critique of those awful tank controls and camera angles. The game seems to have went for an old-school style of gameplay but has instead ended up with outdated gameplay. Sluggishly wandering around environments looking for a button prompt to appear to get a key to open the next door before rinsing and repeating is very draining. It's like Resident Evil without any of the combat or most of the gameplay. There are some chase sequences but even these are just a case of trial and error which I would have much preferred an option to skip them altogether. The split screen style when you go into the other dimension is again great in theory but wears thin quite quickly. Eventually I realised all it was doing was adding another obstacle between me and opening a door. Things like developing photos were also quite banal. The story is something I probably didn't get far enough into the game to fully appreciate, but I think that speaks volumes about the game itself and my patience when such a short game couldn't engage me long enough to understand why everything was happening or the controversial part where sexual assault is blamed on the victim. The Medium is yet another underwhelming game utilising outdated mechanics on a supposed next-gen console. If you can tolerate a sluggish walking simulator you might actually enjoy it but I don't recommend it otherwise.

boring game
I found the game quite boring and repetitive. I finished playing and sold it.

Felt like homework
Looked pretty, but short on hooks and felt like homework. Lots of empty levels with obvious puzzles. Badguy was kinda funny but not any challenge.

A hidden"budget"gem
Wasn't expecting much for a budget game,I was so surprised at how polished it was,and a great story complements a game that punches well above it's budget weight.
