Awesome pans.
After trying stainless steel and others. We finally settled on this kind.

GREAT AS A STARTER KIT! HUSBAND LOVED HIS!
My husband has always always wanted to use a skillet for everyday cooking that would also hold up in his smoker too, and this was the best gift! PLUS, HELLO, LODGE? :) We haven't used the smaller pan or the flat one yet, but the regular skillet has worked like a charm - eggs, full meals, pancakes, steaks, so far so good and definitely easy to clean. The rubber handle is 'ok' when it comes to grabbing it quickly - but my husband says he can still feel heat if you hold it for too long. We just use our OV-Gloves.

For those who do not know, buy these pans. They will change your life.I left my wife and son, moved into my own apartment, got a betta fish, and started cooking my own butter milk pancakes from scratch. I can make honey balsamic glazed chicken with red potatoes and pop it in the oven to broil for a few minutes. My son comes over every day and I make meatballs in the skillet for him. He enjoys the red silicone handles, but they are a little too tempting as he is a toddler and tries to pull them off the stove. Pro-tip, keep the handles facing in, or cut them off all together.Either way. These are amazing cast iron pans from a company that has been making cast iron since way before I was born. Maybe even before my grandmother. Highly recommended.

Amazing!
WOW, what a deal for this much cast iron! I love these pans and use the large one almost everyday! Lodge cookware is well worth the investment and I’ll never need another pan again as long as I live. These are beautiful pans and well worth the price for this set. I highly recommend these, you won’t be sorry.

Great Addition - especially if you do not have cast iron yet!
They are cast iron - they speak for themselves....they are great! As expected: heavy, durable cast iron. First use was on our brand new stove top....it's a glass top and we learned the hard way that cast iron should NOT be used on it. The pan got so hot that it left permanent marks on the stove top! This was user error and no fault to the pan. It actually confirmed that they do have great heat distribution and resiliency! We now only use them on the frill or in the oven but we use them!

Nice set but not non-stick out of the box
I am slowly adjusting to life cooking on cast iron. At first, food was sticking pretty badly to it; hence the loss of one star. So I seasoned it myself a couple more times and after a couple weeks of cooking on it regularly, it's finally getting to be non-stick. These are very heavy, so still haven't figured out how to flip things, but small price to pay for quality cookware. Warm the pans slowly and turn up the heat, but remember these things get hot and stay hot for a long time so don't heat it up too much.

Game changer
Great set for someone looking to transition to cast iron! The only things about this set I found lacking that I purchased elsewhere on Amazon from Lodge are an extra silicon handle for when you have more than one pan on at once (for a scrub like me who had never worked with cast iron or stainless steel before, I could just see myself grabbing the handle without paying attention) and lids. I went and undid the seasoning on these to learn the technique, so I can't speak for the factory seasoning. Overall, I'm so glad I did away with my "non-stick" pans and went with these: They're way easier to clean and maintain then I was expecting and I love being able to bake with them too. I just finished a skillet cake this morning!

It's Lodge. It's Cast Iron, Perfectly Realized. What is there to say?
The silicone pad, handle, and scrapers are nice. The cast iron is Lodge. It is already seasoned, and you can use it immediately. If there are any manufacturing defects you'll need microscopes and x-rays to find them.In my case I had a 10-inch I bought as part of a 3-piece in 1973 for $2.97 and had taken great care of... and the Lodge 10-inch cooks better. I don't know why. Maybe it's thicker. The 8-inch from that $2.97 set was also outperformed by the brand new Lodge. So was the 8-inch grandma-heirloom-who-knows-how-old skillet. What is it with these guys? Are they like the New England Patriots? It's not fair. Maybe they use Secret Space Alien Technology for their cast iron. Anyway, if you buy their cookware, and you still can't cook anything edible, it's you, okay? It's not them. Just so you know.

So useful
I was skeptical about using this instead of kitchen mittens or a simple towel. I thought the handle sleeve was going to be finicky but it actually slides in super easy and remains stable enough while you are holding the pans and pots to transfer them from one place to the other. It is also fairly easy to take off. Also the heat dissipation that the silicon has is great! I can barely feel it warm and the cast iron pots and pans tend to get extremely hot.

risky purchase that paid off
My wife once told me that if I ever got her a frying pan for her birthday or Christmas, that she'd Loony Toons me upside the head with it. Happily, she was tolerant of these when she opened them last Christmas and, since I seasoned them carefully (and am usually the one to wash them), she see that a frying pan (set) was a good present after all! We use them for everything: from pancakes to steaks, and they do a much better job than any non-stick pan we've had over the years (these always start well, but start to deteriorate after a while).

Love Them!
I have never cooked with cast iron before but after becoming alarmed with how regular aluminum pans can leach into your food, I decided to find safer alternatives. So far, I have cooked angus steaks, pancakes and eggs with them and have been very very happy with the soft texture and the fuller flavour of the dishes! Mind you, even though these pans come pre-seasoned, you still need to season them thoroughly, and then do it again before you cook in it, otherwise food will stick at first. I would give it a couple of pre-seasoning using the more detailed method of seasoning (where you do it in the oven for an hour) before you cook in it, to ensure the non stick coating really sets in. You can use canola or vegetableOil for your seasoning, if you don’t have crisco shortening available. I especially love that with care and maintenance, the pans will get better, not worse, as they age and that these pans will last you a very long time. So it is an environmentally conscious choice too.

Real nice product - say bye to non stick pans.
Extremely durable, very high quality. Food does not stick. Easy to clean. Foood browns real nice. Bit heavy, need the silicone grip as it gets hot. Keep it brushed with oil all over after drying and before storing, else rust shows up. But even the rust cleans off easily.
