Moira : Never Planned to fall in Love

One of the best debut books I have ever read.
One of my most anticipated reads once I came across the title. The cover captured my attention the first time I laid my eyes on it. It gives a very meaningful vibe to me and speaks to me about solitude and memories of childhood. The artwork speaks to me so much.I find the writing lyrical and beautiful. It will hook you right away once you start reading. It speaks volumes about our society and how we treat each other."The world is a promising place to build our careers; it only but lacks in enough love, and somewhere downstream, in pursuit of chasing success, money and fame, we suddenly find ourselves devoid of love and companionship - perhaps the most underrated elements of a happy life."I love how each chapter has a catchy title which makes the reading quite a fun experience. There's a part in the story that showcases the connection between domestic animals and the narrator when she was a kid. It is so heartfelt and beautiful. The part which made me quite emotional was the one dedicated to the mother. That is me saying the exact lines to my mother. I wonder if the author has known me all along. The sibling bond is well captured. There's so many aspects of the story that feels home."When we love ourselves wholeheartedly and feel the ecstasy and happiness in our own solace, it is only then we can open our hearts to exude others with love thoroughly."In the story, the author vividly shows how the patriarchal society still exists. How it discriminates on gender: not welcoming girl child, avoiding or neglecting them.I haven't read an Indian contemporary so far that focuses positively on sex, sexuality and periods. It's high time. This book is such a groundbreaking debut I say!For those interested in journalism, this book is a treat and a must-read. It provides some less known tips and tricks on how to thrive in this profession, what's required and what it actually means. There are other so many important topics brought up in this book like sexual harrassment and what the victim feels, women empowerment; how complicated our adult lives can get and how we can deal with it.It may feel like the plot/writing touch so many societal issues and the reader might find it overwhelming. But that's what I appreciate about the writing. As the story follows the life of a woman from her childhood till her marriage, these issues are quite common in the life of a woman. These important issues are brought up at the right time, at the perfect moment that you would find it quite relatable and common. The story, the plot and the characters blend together so well and quite realistic. The character development is quite outstanding. It's the character of the main character that stood out, not only in this book but in books I have read so far.The story wrapped up perfectly towards the end leaving a bit of it to the readers to come to their own conclusions.I highly recommend it to both the young and the old.

There is so much this book has to offer, its on one to perceive !
Moira – meaning “destiny or fate”; “rebelliousness”, and it’s the later what Mihika is! Story of a present day girl, hard working girl who chooses to live life her own way, and gracefully lives through the choices she made in life, good or bad. This is not only a story /fiction, it’s a well-researched piece of work, on fem life. The book gives view of various perspectives of a girl’s life, from her from childhood to youth! Well described feelings from her first crush, or puppy love to matured love, her eventually maturing sentiments on the men that gradually come in her life and also the various challenges a girl may meet in her personal and professional lives! At some point of time, reader may become judgmental about Mihika, but her POVs gradually come up. While some may relate to it, some may not, but this is how most of the present day Indian generation is! I am about to enter 5th decade of my life, and at many places, I felt in my times, I would have made different choices, but fortunately the societal norms have changed for good, for girls in India, and now they can make more dynamic choices. In nut shell1. There is lot new generation may get to learn from this book. The book has much wisdom to offer. Interwoven in the story fabric are, “to the point” facts of life, nuggets of great wisdom, and guidance on professional life!2. The parents of my age, who have grown up children, may probably learn to develop acceptance from this book.3. How a reader may take this book, much would depend on his / her present frame of mind, more so the conditioning of mind in societal mannerisms. The book surely offers its readers, much to absorb from. It’s on one, to read and perceive, to learn and live!4. More of a self help book, than only a fiction.

A good read
A good read.. Takes time but eventually you'll like it. Partly connected, partly inquisitive and partly questionable is what the entire plot takes you through. Its not what the story is about but what leaves with you that makes it a good buy.

Mirror of our society
The way of interpretation is really a genuine and realistic, all characters of this literature are well connected to each other in all aspects of the real story. especially the character of MIHIKA singh is mesmerized me. Moreover the Author has strived to make a super bounding around all characters. In the long run, After I can say that this story is reflection of our contemporary society. In my judgementThis story is honestly a heart touching story ever in my Life.

A must read!
This novel follows the journey of Mihika, a character who embraces her flaws unapologetically, making her deeply relatable. Debut author Mr. Deepak Agarwal has masterfully crafted Mihika to reflect the intricate balance of chaos and tranquility in a girl's mind. The natural flow of the narrative will keep you engaged till the end.

Sometimes you read a book that takes you back down memory lane, and there is Moira. The way the characters have been introduced, they do not just become a part of the story, but you feel engaged with each of them from the very beginning.

A must read! Amazingly written book.
Moira masterfully expresses dilemmas, passions, love, and mental struggles. Deepak Aggarwal deserves praise for tackling such a tough subject in his first book. The use of language and word choices are undeniably elegant and kind. She explores new dimensions of intimacy in love as the seasons of her love life change, and she rediscovers herself in it each time. In this lengthy journey of going against life.
