I was wonderfully pleased with my purchase of these lolly sticks, whentheyarrived. Nice and broad, great for writing the seed names and date of sowing.I thought these wooden sticks would be better than plastic. Unfortunately I discovered that the moment these sticks become wet after watering the compost, iI've repeatedly found that they all (and I mean ALL) started growing fluffy white mould!The mould would start on the wooden lolly sticks, and then spread to the compost! This mould has attacked the seeds I had sown, as well as some of the growing plants I used the sticks as labels on. I've lost hundreds of plants from this problem.If I stick the lolly sticks on the outside of the flower pots, so that they don't get wet. Or touch the compost, the problem doesn't occur. So I surmise that the problem is with the wooden lolly sticks.As I have only used these lolly sticks for gardening, (but seeing the problem of the mould happening when the sticks become wet) I seriously wouldn't recommend that these are used for ANY food use.

I got these to use as plant labels when i grow seedlings for the allotment. I try to avoid using more plastic than I have too - so I thought I'd try these. They are a good size and easy to write on in pencil. Don't know how lon they will last - but am very pleased with them - and at least I can compost them - so no waste

Bought these for labelling plants, to reduce use of plastic. Hopeless, ink spreads in the wood, they are too big for small pots, they don't show up, they quickly get saturated with moisture and turn dark, then they rot. Useless for this purpose.

Even though you know how may you’re buying it’s very gratifying to get a really big box and know you’ve got enough for the season at least. Proper, great size lolly sticks for gardeners who need to label everything and are fed up of plastic.

Good consistent product in size shape and strength, l used them to label all my plants in the greenhouse. Box containing jumbo lolly sticks also very good.
