I liked parts of this book, but I feel like it lost what made book one so unique
MY THOUGHTSI didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book, but it was still a decent read.At the end of Dying to Forget, Piper finds out that her former charge, Sloan, is now at the Station. Which means that he must've have committed suicide after Piper left him. Piper is upset because she must have failed, but she also is somewhat happy that she gets the chance to actually know him. What's strange is that Sloan remembers her, even though most of the living don't remember their Volunteers. Those at the Station think there must be something special about Piper, but Piper isn't sure and she still has to work. One of the reasons why I did not enjoy this one as much as the first is that it lost a lot of the elements I enjoyed in the first book and had more of the tired tropes that I don't enjoy. For instance, Piper is now the special one. I was just fine with her being a normal girl, in fact, I wanted her to be a normal girl, that was one of the biggest draws to her character. I'm not really a big fan of books that signal the MC as "special" and "different". I like seeing someone normal overcome challenges and change from personal strength, not because they are special. One of my favorite things about Dying to Forget was the moments where Piper Volunteered. I loved seeing the real-world elements and how she tried to help others. It had a strong contemporary feel, not hesitating to discuss difficult subjects, but with an afterlife twist. Piper did Volunteer once in this book and those elements were still there. I still loved that and it is because of that that my rating is still a "liked it" rating. When we see Piper at the Station, mainly when interacting with Sloan, I felt like the uniqueness of this book was lost. The romance was my biggest issue with this book. It's really tough for me to like a romance in books because more often than not, I find it completely unnecessary. In Dying to Forget there was no romance and I loved that! When I found out that Sloan was at the Station, I knew right away that this would likely lead to romance. I was hoping that would not be the case, but of course, it turned out to be correct. The romance was really flat. I know that Piper knew Sloan, so I understand on her end why it happened so quickly (kind of. It doesn't really make sense for her character, but whatever), but for Sloan, it just seemed that he was suddenly in love with Piper. There was no build. Sloan also turned into a flat, stereotypical love interest. He was so dynamic in the last book, but here, it was almost like he was a piece of furniture. A hot piece of furniture because of course every girl wants him and every guy hates him (I'm so tired of this trope).IN CONCLUSIONOverall, I really liked the moments where Piper was Volunteering and that is my favorite part of this book and the series so far, but I feel like the unique elements are disappearing and this is becoming a cliche YA book. I hate saying that because the first book was great, but with the romance and Piper now becoming a special snowflake, the tired tropes are being brought in. I want to continue the series because I still love the afterlife aspect, but I'm not sure. From the looks of it, the next book won't have any Volunteering (which is, again, my favorite part) and I'm kind of worried that there will be a love triangle.

OMG! Amazing addition to a wonderful series!
OMFREAKINGGOSH, WTH?!!! I was so excited to read this book, I bought it the moment it came out on Amazon. I am so happy with it, but now I'm even more anxious for the next book...like, if it wasn't for the sneak peak at the end for Dying to Return, I would totally be flipping out (more than I am) right now. There was such a huge cliffhanger --- did I ever tell you guys how much I can't stand cliffys? --- and before I realized there was another page on my Kindle, I was like so pissed off at the author for doing that to me. I mean you just can't leave someone hanging like that! Let's just say when you read this be prepared to be left with more questions than answers. The origins of the Station are probably the most complex question I'm left with, as well as what's " beyond". The book opens up where Dying to Forget left off, Sloan's arrival at the Station. Piper is so startled she shatters the slot for her volunteer case. But what's even more startling is Sloan remember's Piper. That's the thing about Piper Willow that has the "management" of the Station so interested and even a little worried, she leaves an imprint on her cases. She can impress her will on others, which makes her a great Volunteer, but that's not what the Station wants. Because of that, Niles places Piper is the "One's" building, which is where the children go to 'move on' to beyond. Piper does well at her job there but it's taxing leading children to the realm beyond, especially when such children are frightened and Piper can't tell them where exactly they are going. As Piper excels in her job and her relationship with Sloan progresses, things are put to a halt. A mysterious, glowing man appears at the Station to meet with Piper along with the Mentors. So as to prove their theory about Piper's abilities, they send her on a special case that lasts nearly a year. When she comes back the mystery of Piper and the new, glowing man, Rush, deepen. Who is Rush, and why does he glow? And another, thing, Rush can read everything Piper thinks. He seems to be in charge of the inner workings of the Station, too. But there's more questions, as stated above, like what exactly is the Station, WHERE IS IT? What is BEYOND? Who created the Station, why, are there other stations? I could go on and on with all the questions that are nagging me right now. There's hints throughout the novel, but I believe the satisfying answers will be revealed in Dying to Return, the next book. This book was really fun to read, and I love how there's multiple story-lines going on. When Piper is a volunteer, we take a break from her story and delve into the life of one who is suicidal. The author illustrates these feelings perfectly, and Piper is the perfect little voice inside one's head to console them and lead them to safer thought patterns. I absolutely (as if you couldn't tell yet) cannot wait for the next book. This is quickly becoming my new favorite series! So I highly recommend you guys read this series ---- like now! And if you do, and you love it as much as me, drop me a line and maybe we can bond over our love for the book and discuss theories!

Moving and memorable
Dying to Remember #2 in The Station SeriesThe story picks up without a pause from where Dying to Forget left off. Once again we are launched in the strange existence of The Station where victims of suicide are given the opportunity to return to Earth to try and save other potential victims.Piper Willow, the 18 year old heroine, discovers she is virtually unique in the history of the Station; she can be heard by those she is sent to save. This ability brings her to the notice of the mysterious Andurush, a being from somewhere beyond the pearly opaque walls which surround the Station. This stranger has come to watch her which doesn't please her at all nor does the knowledge that her next mission is being constantly monitored by others.Part love story, part paranormal thriller once again Miss Dawson delivers a powerful and deeply moving story which has the ability to make you smile one moment and tug powerfully at your heart the next.I have to confess that I am fast becoming a huge fan of Trish Marie Dawson and look forward to the continuation of Piper's journey.

After reading book one I had to follow on and read the other two and I wasn't disappointed they were all a great read although the circumstances of the characters were very sad.
