Overpriced, but the second-best 3-speed shifter to the original AW trigger.
I'm a staunch believer in the original Sturmey-Archer 3-speed triggers (especially the long-lever versions from the 1950's) for the AW and SRF-3 hubs, but this comes up as a close second.Of the modern shifter designs available, this is probably the best alternative for anyone looking to get away from the current grip shifter trend - without resorting to thumbie-type shifters that require a lot more than your thumb to actually shift. That said, it still isn't as elegantly simple as the old triggers, and it is easy to confuse the upshift with the downshift (and I've also pinched my thumb twice trying to get used to it). This is also hampered a bit by the fact that the shift indicator doesn't actually line up with the numbers - a small detail that does let the shifter down a bit.Still, it's a small price to pay for a nice shifter like this; perhaps the most objectionable thing is the price. I was able to get mine for ~$35, but countless sellers put $48-55 price tags on these...and at that point, it's not worth it.
