I put two of these 2'x4' shelves together today, and they are horrible. Two end caps were missing, one weld was cracked, shelf flexes about an inch under 200 pounds of weight, the uprights are thin and cheezey, and the shipping package was weak so three corners where smashed halfway flat. I was expecting actual commercial shelving, but this is like the Big Lots equivalent of Metro.

These are outstanding units but man-o-man they were beat up when they arrived at the house. The shelves are big and heavy but were only packaged in a cardboard "wrapper". By the time they showed up they were pretty banged up. A few of the shelves were bent on the corners where assemble with the rod. This was a real pain when putting together but managed to make it work with some elbow grease. I get it, they are big and heavy so residential shipping is at the limit. I actually hesitated to order more because they arrived so beat up.

The product itself is fine and great for my purpose. However, it took a long time to set them up because 30-40% of the shelf corners were damaged (see photo) and had to be hammered back into shape to allow the shelves to seat fully and consistently. This may not be a problem for smaller shelf units, but I ordered the large units (2' x 6' x 5'), and each box probably weighed 76 lbs or more.The weight of the whole package plus in-transit handling completely overwhelmed the pathetic packaging. At each corner, small plastic devices are intended to keep the shelves aligned with each other, but very, very robust strapping would be required to hold 5 shelves of that size securely together during shipment. After that, the pathetically small plastic box-corner protecters were useless,, and rough transit handling (inevitable due to the weight of the whole package meant most of the corners were banged out of shape.It took me a while to figure out why the shelves weren't seating properly, and then some more time to get a technique for hammering the corners back close enough to round for the shelves to work.

So what that means, is when you line up the plastic pieces so that a round-ended corner will slide over it, it won't. It ends up pushing the plastic clips down and makes the shelf have no support. The unit itself is well made, but the packaging is horrible and was completely shredded when I got it. I'm debating now on just how much trouble this will be to return. I'd recommend buying something big and heavy like this locally so that you can inspect it before taking it home.Update 3/4/2021:I reached out to the manufacturer and they are sending out two shelves to replace the two bent during shipping. They were quick to respond and get them sent out. I am upgrading this to 4 stars.

This was the second shelf rack I purchased from Seville. The first had questionable packing, but this one arrived with crushed shelf guides and had to be returned. The two stars are because Seville has completely neglected packaging. In my Covid organizing spree, I also ordered two racks from Trinity. Trinity is the way to go. Even though these boxes weigh 90 pounds, the Trinity racks arrived packaged with care. Loose items are secured so well that you need good snips to cut the pieces loose. Both assemble the same way and it's pretty easy to put them together but Trinity does have better instructions. Trinity does include two extra snap locks which I didn't need, but nice to have. The shelves themselves for Seville and Trinity are nearly identical. And both offer extra shelves for sale. I'll stick with Trinity to avoid the pain of having to return a rack.
