Great value for a day's costume.
I ironed before my son wore it and I put a stitch in each should pad to hold to jacket better. I washed it after he wore it for the day. Washed well. Looked great. Good value.

Pretty good
The quality is not the best but eveything looks decent.

meant to be used only a couple of times, it seems...
its ok as a costume. materials are real cheap and flimsy. instructions say not to wash them. that should tell you right away how durable they are. the pants and the overcoat are practically see through in some parts. expensive for what materials they use and what it includes. it comes with the pants, overcoat, vest and ascot/cravat. no shirt, no stockings.

4 stars, but with a caution
I ordered the costume in both adult M and L because the wearer was between the two on the size chart. If I had to pick one the Large is baggy in the coat (the M fit better), but fits in the knickers (M pants were a little tight). If you are between sizes, I'd recommend going up in size and dealing with some bagginess and excessive length in the jacket so that the knickers fit. In part my recommendation is based on the fact that the knickers are a very thin (but not see-through, unless you're wearing bright white underwear) and can snag easily and possibly rip at the seam (along the crotch) if the fit is too tight on the wearer. The waist is a narrow band of elastic but it does stretch a few inches. There is no elastic at the bottom of the legs, so you don't get the look of knickers, but rather more like straight capris or coulottes. If you are handy with a needle (I'm not), putting some type of closure or elastic at the bottom might make the pants look more like what the Founding Fathers would have worn. If you want a good pair of knickers, these are not even close. You might be better getting a pair of black or brown sweatpants or cuffed joggers and pushing them up the leg, then adding white over-the-knee socks. The white neck scarf is just long enough to tie in one knot leaving the ends loose, but is not really long enough to make a bow or any fancy knots, but it's a good addition to the Founding Father's look if you don't have anything else. The vest also seems to be some type of nylon, but it is thicker than the knickers (if only the knickers were that material). You still need to be careful with it because the material tends to snag, especially on anything velcro or pointed that you might be using with the costume. Still it's a good enough quality so long as you are gentle putting it on and taking it off. In the pictures the vest looks more white-ish tan than it is in reality. To me the vest was more of a yellowish brown, which gives a decidedly less "classy" appearance to the Founding Father, but hey, it's just a costume. The best part of the costume is the jacket, which although made from a weird "peached"/moleskin-type fabric (like craft felt only much rougher), is actually pretty substantial for a costume. It's still not the weight of a real jacket but it is isn't thin nylon like the knickers. The best part of the jacket is that it has white ruffle cuffs attached (same material as the neck scarf), so you do not have to buy a ruffle shirt. It's the main reason (along with price and fast delivery) that I purchased this costume instead of others without cuffs. My rating was "4 stars, but with a caution" because it's almost as if you're getting two different costumes--the knickers which are 2 stars if I'm being very kind, versus the jacket, vest and scarf which are 4 stars (maybe 5) for a costume-quality item. If you are buying the costume for a jacket with attached cuffs this is for you. If you really want the pants, you might need to find a better option.

Its okay
Loved the vest and jacket. The pants were horrible. I wore some of my own pants and rolled them up. These pants were super thin, shiny stretchy material that clung to everything. You need to wear your own white shirt, as it doesn't come with one. And you need to buy your own socks as this doesn't come with socks either.
