Light-hearted, funny read
Bea is lovable and the book as a whole was a quick, light-hearted read which during a time of craziness is exactly what was needed!

A great surprise
I have never read a book from this genre before. I wasn't duped into it, the cover is pretty clear about its content and I started page one knowing what it was going to be all about. What I didn't expect, was for it to be such a great read! And funny! Very very funny. The author is gifted with a very natural sense of humour, which is either forced or OTT.Great characters, witty dialogue, brilliant human observations and a lovely ending.I really enjoyed this book and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Great start!
Well, this book started off very well, gave me a good few laughs, and had my attention wrapt. However, going further, it slowed a bit, and I felt frustrated with the main character, her foibles, and her being okay with a humdrum existence. That said, I did continue with the book, and I'm very glad I did!Bea makes great strides towards improving herself, her outlook, self-worth, and coming out of her shell. I loved Peter throughout. He was just so sweet! One of my main problems with the book was the lack of description of the main character physically. It's not until 26% of the way through that we find out she's just over 5 foot, and not until around 70%, that we find out she's in her mid-30s. For me personally, I find it helps me visualise and connect with the characters if there is a better description of them.

Fresh, Funny, Romance
It's fantastic. Its fresh, funny, lovable and Bea is such a real character. If you need a reason as to why I love romcoms so much then this book is a perfect example. If there is one thing I love, it's friends to lovers romance and this book did not disappoint!Bea is everything! She's funny, kind, honest and real, all making her a strong, likeable heroine. Bea is a woman who is at that point in her life that doesn't actually know what to do with her life. We meet Bea when she is at her best-friends wedding and fed up with being alone she decides to start dating again.I loved the dates. Not only were they realistic in how modern dating goes but I found myself laughing.Peter on the other hand is such a sweet-heart. He reminded me a lot like Reid from Criminal Minds. I mean whats not to like? Peter is attentive and is the supportive driving force that gives Bea courage and is something that makes there friendship special. This book is about friendship and love, it's a special book that will be hard to forget. I loved reading this and found it easy to follow and will leave you with a smile on your face wanting more. I know I want more! The ending! Oh that ending! It's just so beautiful! If you're a fan of Mhairi McFarlane then you should really read this book, especially if you're a fan of British romcoms. You won't regret it and I can't wait to see what's in store for this author as this is one hell of a strong debut.

Lovely read about friendships
This was a lovely, fun read that I really enjoyed. Lots of great characters and different types of friendships, Peter especially and a great scenario. I really liked Bea realising she had to change things, working on it and then doing it slowly. Loved the ending.
