A Beautiful Display, and Packaged for a Beautiful Movie
Well I have been a long time fan of this film. I owned the dvd before this one came out and wished it was on blu ray. Then they made it, but it was still on Netflix. So about two weeks ago when they said it will be gone in the middle of April it was biting that I couldn’t have a crisp display of this film. I have emotional attachment to the film. It came at the right time, in the right place of my childhood where I was dealing with severe mental health issues, undiagnosed and being hurt internally and trying to figure out how to cope while being misunderstood by everyone around me. So around my birthday, saw it on the poster in theater. Like a month later I saw the trailer and related to Norman and wanted to see it but wasn’t ready because I was scared of bathrooms for a long time.I might be a little biased, but hear me out! No one would be disappointed with buying this film to watch and keeping it on their shelves. It is lovely, that’s why I bought it twice now, not counting the dvd that came along with this. When I bought this, I had bought it for a blu ray crisp and clear view for this GORGEOUS and masterful film…. And I got exactly that! I also love the designs of the zombies on the back of the inside of the cover, really cool! Seeing the judge on the other dvd behind the booklet was really cool too!The movie: no spoilersA bittersweet and heartfelt story, a beautiful atmosphere with fun and dark but also clever humor I think makes it a great movie night with the family on Halloween, I guarantee you. It may not be for small children, however. I personally think it’s good for older kids, as it covers dark topics. death, and being socially outcasted for being different in some way. and people not taking kindly to it and casting judgement in fear to what they can’t understand. and it does VERY well. there are some scenes that a child may find uncanny. First of all, it’s stop motion, but this one I find is the least uncanny just because it feels like a 3d film. (Like cgi, excuse me) Another thing is, when I was 12 I was scared of the bathroom scene and it stopped me from watching it all together, until I was seventeen and remembered this film and was in awe because no one told me about this movie even though I’m a HUGE fan of Laika films and things. So look out for the bathroom scene, lolol. Honestly it’s not as bad as it looked to me at the time. It depends on the kid. I personally would’ve liked to have watched this when I was about 13-14 years of age, and I’d be so excited to share this with my child if ever I could have oneSo, there’s really not much else I can say. It’s an amazing film. It’s pretty, it’s cute, the characters Norman and Neil are the most lovable duo, and the movie is comical genius

I love everything that Laika Studios creates
Another stop motion film made by the god tear LAIKA. Worth every penny. I love their designs, story telling, how absolutely nuts their stop motion is. Blu-ray came in good condition. Not a bootleg, real if your worried about that sort of thing.

Wonderfully wierd movie for my wierd little angel.
This movie is strange and entertaining. My household enjoys all of the Laika movies for these reasons. My daughter absolutely loves this film.

Beautifully illustrated animated film with an excellent message
Norman Babcock sees ghosts and is a polite enough young man to speak to them. Only his friend, Neil, believes him and he’s a fellow weirdo. Then, his eccentric uncle tells him of a ritual he must do to keep his town free of witches every year…just before he dies. The plot is suspenseful and it just keeps you glued to the screen. For young adults, it also teaches a lot about bullying and dealing with differences. This is one of the most beautifully-illustrated animations I’ve ever seen. I’m captivated by the art work as well as the storyline. We own the disk and watch the film every Halloween.R. Kyle, October 2021
