It is a smaller version of the Bible.
I was excited. Then I opened started reading and it was like reading the bible but smaller. I mean it literally starts off with the bible (no cap). I have read the bible because I was raised in a mixed religious family and let's just say that I'm not a Christian so it was a little disappointing because my old version of the book was destroyed. So basically don't by if you don't carry for pagnism. Basically?!?!

Affordable, clean OCR scan of one of the foundational-source-translations in the English language
This is a great way to get an otherwise difficult-to-obtain text. This is the Brodeur translation; this particular volume is an OCR scan, but -- unlike other OCR scans I've bought -- it's completely intelligible. That is to say that there are multiple originally-published-pages on one page in this edition, but it's easy to (clearly) see where the original page breaks were, and the footnotes are kept in originally-published-footer order. (I was traumatized by an OCR scan that I once paid way more money for only to find that there were no page breaks preserved in the scan and the footnotes were just arbitrarily slugged into the body of the text . . . This Isn't Like That.) The book you'll get is clean and nicely presented.

Not as new as it might look...
(I assume that if you are reading the Prose Edda, you know what it is.)This is a translation by Arthur Gilchrist Brodeur first published in 1916. It is written in olde-English-legendary, i.e. thee's, thou's, and ye's instead of "you." But is is still quite readable. I got it because I wanted a Kindle version to read on an airplane flight and I didn't want to carry my 1956 Young translation (on paper). The price was right and it sufficed. If you really want to dig into the Edda you should probably buy a newer translation, but this one is OK.

Good book, bad delivery.
The book is good and what I expected but the delivery was less than pleasant. I happened to look out the window and saw the delivery driver pull up his van on the street. I went and unlocked and opened my front door and smiled at him and said hello. He barely looked at me and said nothing. I asked if the parcel was for me (could have been for next door as we share a path to the house). He just looked at me with dead eyes and stretched his hand out, passing me the parcel. I took the parcel and still smiling said thank you. He then made a sharp turn on his heel and walked off without saying anything. Now I expect delivery guys to be maybe tired and overworked but basic customer service like saying - hello, here you go, cheers, goodbye - is not too much to expect, or is it?

Why on earth would you not even print page numbers?!?!
Let's not even worry about things like line numbers here. This book doesn't even have page numbers! What on earth am I meant to do with that. Want to look up that favourite story? "It's about halfway then count forwards a few pages".Rubbish. I bought this second hand because wanted a super cheap version for reference. I've bought used books with stuff spilt on them before and not even been disappointed because they were cheap and I could still read them. This on the other hand is nonsense.

A timeless classic
Have been hearing the sagas collected by Snorri Sturluson on many trips to Norway. Have even visited his Statue in Bergen. Decided to buy the book as it was at such a good price. My son, who is a lecturer in Medieval English and History, immediately pinched it, so I have had to order another for my own use. Wonderful stories of the Norse and Icelandic history and culture. Not to be missed at this price.

A book to really get the brain cells working.
I am a speed reader by habit, but this stopped me in my tracks!! A lovely book and something i can digest gradually. I was recommended this as i have a motorbike called Loki and a trike called Frigg. Now i can get lots of information on the Norse gods and goddesses and Mythical beings. Many thanks!!!!

Prose edda
Good read. Gives you an easier way to read and understand the poetic edda, but you can tell that it's been written from the point of view of a Christian.
