Size up + important information I got from the Merrell outlet
I usually wear an 8 in regular shoes and an 8.5 in hiking boots. I ordered an 8.5 but the Moab 2 felt tight plus the toe box felt restrictive. Since there was conflicting information in amazon comments (size up 1/2 size, size up full-size) I decided to go to a Merrell outlet store to figure out the right sizingRight sizing was up 1/2 size above your normal *hiking boot size* . So instead of an 8.5, I needed a 9. Perfect fit. The employee was very knowledgeable and helpful. Here's what you need to know about these boots.1. Merrell makes this model in a non-waterproof style. This one, the waterproof Moab 2, "feels tighter" on the foot she said, than the other model, due somehow to the waterproofing technology used.2. The toe box is smaller in style (tapered) than some of Merrell's other footwear (like the model I link to below), but if you get the right size in Moab 2, it should just take a little bit of breaking in. (Indeed, only part of one day for me.)3. The Moab 2 has a bit of a heel and a shank. That offers extra grip when on slippery slopes. It also has pronounced arch support. My experience of this is my foot feels ever-so-slightly like it's aimed downhill when I am standing on level ground. The employee confirmed it may feel this way. She also said that typically this style of sole fees good to people with medium-to-high arches. (I have a low arch and am somewhat flat-footed.)I would up buying the Moab 2 in a size 9. I like the Vibram sole, pronounced support in the sole, and I want to try something different. My experience of the Moab 2 is I feel sometimes a slight readjustment in my spine and even my hip muscles. It feels ever so slightly sore sometimes, but it may just be stretching those muscles. The employee confirmed the design is to optimize your spine posture. So I figure my other footwear may not have been supporting my frame properly. The employee also showed me a Merrell mid hiking boot that she said people with low arches like. Plus it has a roomy toe box. (The Chameleon 7 Limit) I decided to also buy a pair of those too: https://www.amazon.com/Merrell-Womens-Chameleon-Waterproof-Brindle/dp/B0728C1LNG/I'm happy with my purchases. Thanks, Merrell!

Size was perfect. I generally wear an 8
I bought these boots for a recent winter trip to Iceland. Size was perfect. I generally wear an 8, this shoe for me ran really true to size. My feet are borderline wide, I purchased an 8 wide so that I would be sure to have enough room for multiple layers of thick wool socks - which ended up fitting perfectly! There was no "adjustment" period with these boots to break them in, they were comfortable from the first time I put them on. Even without the multiple pairs of socks, the boots proved to be super warm and waterproof. I wore them trekking thru Iceland winter glacer/hiking trails with snow and ice and never had a problem with my feet getting wet or not staying warm. The traction was great, although most of the time, due to terrain, i had Yaktrax on the bottom of the boots. I was slightly worried initially about the yaktraxs fitting on the the wider boot, but it was not a problem at all!! I put 200+ miles of hiking on these the last 3 weeks in iceland and never had any problems and i look forward to many more hiking adventures in them! Overall, a great buy and a great boot!

Great hiking shoes in hot and cold weather
I went to San Pedro de Atacama I’m Chile and I was impressed how comfortable these shoes were. I was happy hiking in the desert with high temperatures, my feet were perfectly fine, and when I was at the Geysers with freezing temperatures and some water around these shoes were amazingly and accurately water proof. Very happy with them and looking forward to many more adventures together! 👍🏼😀P.S: I tried more than 7 different brands hiking shoes. These were not the cheapest but they were the best. You won’t regret getting them 😉don’t forget to get wool socks! I got thin and thick ones for the different temperatures.

Not comfortable!!
I bought these shoes after seeing them on several websites' lists of the best hiking shoes plus Amazon reviews. Initially these shoes seemed comfortable and had good grip on uneven terrain. The problem is the sole has virtually no flex, which puts a lot of pressure on your heel since you can't roll forward onto the ball of your foot as part of a normal walking gait. This unrelieved pressure on the heel causes foot problems. After a 7-mile hike in these boots, I was considering taking the boots off for the final mile to stop the aching in my heels.Returning these shoes.

Solid Hiking Boots
It took about a full days worth of walking to break these puppies in. But once broken in, they are very comfortable. I have very weak ankles and tennis shoes just don't make the cut for me. I like how these boots come up to the ankles and they feel very secure in them. I also really like the color. I can't remember the actual name but it has peach accents and brown. The bottoms are very thick and durable. They provide a lot of traction for slick surfaces. I did a lot of research to find the perfect hiking boots under $200, and these definitely fit the bill. They are also waterproof. Now don't go swimming in them, but if it starts to rain, your feet should be dry for awhile.

Boots are not waterproof.
These hiking boots were advertised as waterproof.. They are not . They started leaking after 6 weeks of casual wear. My previous pair of Merrell hiking boots were waterproof for 9 years. Do not buy these boots!

These boots were made for the walking!
As always Merrill has given us another great product. I am a hiker and an everyday walker. These boots were bought for my daily walks and short hikes, longer more technical hikes I use a backpacking boot. The boots fit good except the right boot rubs on my ankle bone but I think a little more wear to break in and soften the offending spot will do the trick. The waterproof boot will be great in the wet mornings at the campsite.

Thumbs up!
I got these for my wife as a present. She LOVES them! Her feedback... “they’re very light”, “they make my feet look smaller”, “sooo comfortable”, and “I don’t slide in these”.We go for hikes on the weekends. Between 5-10km (3-6 miles). Also daily walks on paths for 4km. Some parts of the path are approx 40degrees with snow and the boots have grip. She has never mentioned her feet being wet from the snow. I imagine I could just scotchguard them if she had issues. Also, I normally replace the insole on footwear when I buy it, to provide better support for the foot. I haven’t done that with these. The insoles are very good for support already. We also have ice cleats (the stretchy rubber ones) for the icy conditions. The cleats slide off sometimes because there aren’t many places for the rubber straps to grab onto. This is less than desirable when you’re walking in deeper snow. I might need to buy strap on ice cleats so I’m not digging through deep snow for rubber ice cleats.Would definitely recommend these... So would my wife...

Comfort, great traction and last ,and last, and last. and a decent price.
I like these because they are wide enough to be comfortable for my feet , unlike a lot of other brands that seem to only have narrow ones.(and I didn't have to get wides either, just regular.) They work for my high arches, and They don't rub my anchilles' tendon either which is another big plus compared to others. I have been wearing these exact same shoes for several years now, but I finally had to get them replaced. They really hold up well, and have good cushioning and great traction. I walk at least an hour a day. Sometimes on fields ,sometimes on pavement and sometimes on rocky hills. I was so happy to find that they hadn't changed anything in them.
