Wonderfully original
Just finished The Mousai Trilogy by E.J. Mellow.Highly recommend! First time reading anything by this author. Brilliant world-building, original, complex believable characters, lovely touch of humour, and beautifully gothic.Only downside is I wouldn't mind more books...

Niya and Alos better together
Loved this second book in the story of the Mousai and their wonderful world. So many of an the characters I would like to meet IRL, particularly Achak. Superb writing with lots of little surprises - the giants for one. Looking forward to the next one.

Fire and ice
A great book. I enjoyed this even more than the first book. A lot of questions, including the birth of the Mousai, are shown and answered here.Niya has always been the hot head of her sister, like her flames she burns hot, bright, and impulse but compassionate. These traits tend to get her into trouble. Luckily, her skills, powers, and sisters are there to get her out, but 4 years ago, they were not enough.Alos is known as the pirate lord. He embraces the role of the villain. So much so that he does not even hide his face in the Thief Kingdom or anywhere else. Was he born bad or what made him the ruthless man he is now. 4 years ago, he discovered a secret that he now intends to capitalise on to further his own goals.A great story of going beyond the surface, sins, and redemption. It is said the road to hell is paved with good intentions, what are people willing to sacrifice for what is really important to them. Great characters and character development. I can see where the next story is going, but this one is going to be hard to follow, and I do hope it contains more of Niya's adventures I don't think one book is enough gor her.

This book has it all
Funny, tense, adventurous, and romantic, this enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance hits every button. The passion that the characters show for their goals and adventures (and for each other) shines through in the prose, and makes reading it a real joy. I devoured this book, knowing from the first chapters that I was hooked. The dual-POV is effective, the pacing is brilliant, especially where the love story is concerned. Though it is the second in a series, the story works well alone, and while enriched by the previous tale, doesn't require even a good memory of those events to be enjoyable. I am eagerly anticipating the third in the series.

Good fantasy romance.
After having read the first of the Mousai series, I looked forward to the 2nd book & while it did not disappoint, I did find it a bit predictable. That said, I relate to Niya's quick temper & lack of patience, as well as her profound love of her family & sense of duty to them. All in all, a decent bed time read for me.

I love this series!
I’ve listened to this and the first on audio book and have thoroughly enjoyed it.The story is well written and very descriptive, and then when read in the manner it is, it makes it come to life in a way it might not had I read it traditionally.Very much looking forward to the third in the trilogy!

The long awaited second installment of the mousai did not disappoint.I was again totally submerged in the world of the Bassettes and the Theif Kingdom. Alos was a revelation as was Niya. It was well written how the story developed between the 2. Although a little predictable in the later parts. I didnt care though. The description of all the kingdoms mentioned were exceptional. I dont want to wait nearly 18 months for the next one! Definitely going to re read .

Best book of the year!
I enjoyed the first book in the trilogy, the first line of the first book captured my attention! But this second book had me hooked from the first line to the last! It has pirates, it has a sassy female lead and a broody male lead. It has danger and action and romance. I read both the first book and second on Kindle Unlimited but halfway through this one, I ordered the paperbacks because I knew I wanted to keep these for multiple rereads in the future! Cannot wait for the third and final book in this trilogy!!! Will be buying that one in paperback too, for sure!!!

Great conclusion.
This book was the final conclusion to a great story. I really found the ending to be satisfying. It's the reason that I will be buying more of his books. I really like the way he writes. His ability to keep you wondering what will happen next.

Loved it!
Better than the 1st book. I loved the female lead and her fiery temper. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development and the story itself. I recommend it if you enjoyed the 1st book but felt like something was missing. This book will not disappoint and reads easily. A good adventure novel.

Very enjoyable
This book I liked most compared to the previous one, although being very nice as well. Characters are so all consuming with their fights and contrasting emotions all along the story, you can't stop reading to discover the full story until the end. Loved every word of this book!
