Ah, the famous Flying Scotsman! It's a real piece of history and worthy of looking up, ... first locomotive to surpass 100 mph and such. This model is a very simplified example, sold as a STEM toy, but interesting to the adult modeler too, if you want to get more creative. As a toy, it's not a bad example of these bolt together metal kits ... especially for the price. Yes, some pieces won't fit quite right, the instructions will be vague in parts, and getting the bolts to line up with the nuts is a medium challenge ... so probably not for a child as their first metal kit. But for the more experienced kid or adult, it can be a fulfilling experience. I'm an older adult with previous modeling experience, mostly in wooden ships and planes. These erector-set type models are new to me, simple but fun. They almost beg to be modified with all those extra unbolted holes. So get goofy creative! I went with a "steampunk thing" using metal gears I bought and random brass and copper pieces I could find in junk drawers. The pointy brass in the front is from an old archery sight. There are two cut down shell casings, some plumbing connectors, brass picture hangers, etc. etc. I enjoyed the whole process. So as a simple metal toy or more ... thumbs up!

My grandson is 11 and he put it together right away and really liked it. Seems to be quality.

Challenging for an 8 year old if they have never built a kit like this. The pages of lines and schematics are a far cry from the detailed ones of Lego. Some of the schematics pictures are reversed of the final completed item which added to the difficulty. Fun kit, but 6+ might be a little inaccurate age range. I honestly won’t buy another kit like this. FINALLY is all I said when I completed it for my 8 year old. Happy holidays everyone AND a lot of patience!

My son loves it but we haven’t got to sit down and build it yet.

1. The size is nice. Not big, not too small. 2. Important, that the parts do not fit together very well and need to be bent. So, maybe it’s nice for adults, but not for children (maybe for teenagers). U have to think about , if you want to gift it. The quality of metal is ok, but not for this price, I guess…

First off, the description of the width and length of the plane is correct, but the picture of the plane in the advertisement has a skewed perspective of looking bigger than it actually is. This plane takes quite some time to put together, and unless you have a genius child, they will not be building it you will. The video showing two small kids building this is just marketing fluff. You will need to manipulate some of the metal and bend some pieces to shape, and the instructions are not the most strait forward to follow. Putting some of the parts together and or sections of the plane take a little bit of figuring out, so if your good at putting things together you'll be ok, but if not, you're going to get frustrated. Its good as it is for a model if that is what you're looking for, if your kid is going to be playing with it, I question how long it will hold up. It is a light weight then metal frame, that is durable enough, but the metal can bend. Wheels are not meant to turn, and there are no lock washers at all used in the build so with continuous play, there is a good chance nuts will come loose and get lost.

My 10 year old did this on his own and said he likes this more than Lego!

I purchased the Metal Fighter Airplane (model 9902) for my 9-year-old son based on the recommended age in the product description. This is definitely not for kids under 12 because of the level of difficulty and lack of clear instructions... or inaccurate instructions in our case. It was a waste of money and time. Save yourself the frustration.

Great item I had one part incomplete but it does not show when building. This is a metric set using European standard holes unlike meccano which uses imperial. The model goes together well and looks good the only drawback is the very thin axels if they were as wide as the holes that would be great. This model is also double the price of the same model on the Temu site. Same model same manufacturer why is this?

Almost half way through the assemble, when incorrect parts appeared and could not complete, also assembly instructions not very understandable.
