Charles (aka, Bedouin, 50+) had unique documents & was ready to share them with Maksim “Max” Malinin (Russian, 35, son, Washington Post investigative journalist, former US Army 10th Special Forces Group & US Army Special Forces: Green Beret, Afghanistan, Iraq, Harvard U) only.Over coffee Charles story began.9/11/2001, Captain Philip Marshall (USAF) concluded Al-Qaeda, or any other organization acting was not responsible for the terrorist attacks.Philip (father) & his 2 children were found murdered, but its was concluded a suicide.Charles wanted $50 G’s for the packet of documents that had disappeared yrs. ago.Max went to the office to see Richard “Iron” Berwick (boss, Washington Post investigation dept. head). What did Max share with Jia (Chinese, f)?Mr. Edmond Jacob Safra (67, billionaire, banker) was already dead.Hotel de Paris. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written historical fiction thriller book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge description list of unique characters, settings, facts etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great adventure movie, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free author; PDF; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Conspiracy theories of famous political incidents
I enjoyed the novel because it could have happened after all. History is actually just the events as they are described by whoever we chose th believe

How interesting
A great book well researched. My copy was spoiled by having the many conversations between the author and another person included but it was easy enough to eventually ignore them. Well worth a read and, at times, gripping.

Interesting book
I got A Mirror Above the Abyss more out of curiosity: I was intrigued by its cover with a fragment of a painting by Bosch who is my favorite artist. Usually, I do not like such texts in which real events are mixed into an author’s fiction, but what Lurye did was interesting enough and seemed to provide some insights. It could have become a potential bestseller but in my opinion, it would have been a better solution to keep fact and fiction apart, otherwise the whole turns into a jambalaya of sorts. It may taste well, yet it is a bit too specific… I can give only four stars for it.

A good detective story.
It's a very deep and exciting book! Concinnous narrative. I read A Mirror above the Abyss; one might say without pausing for breath! It seems to me that there is no need for investigation of the "Twin Towers case" since everything was evident from the very beginning. Such buildings don't just fall down.I liked the book as a literary version of the key events of the story. It is an opportunity for thinking and, at the same time, a good detective story.

Decent plot, poor story
The plot was interesting enough, but the story writing a bit of a drag. Lots of redundancies, overly long (cut back on the excess and redundancies and this book could have easily been 100 pages less), and completely unbelievable and shallow, the entirety of Malin's investigation was so random and way to clean and "perfect," (by that I mean, everything was too conveniently and unrealistically created) . I did read the entire thing, and the plot provided some enjoyment, but all in all not one I would recommend.

Good story
The main villain in the novel is absolutely terrific. He is the same guy existing as five or six persons from the 1960s to the present. We usually think that a “bad guy” is bad in every way, yet this book, A Mirror Above the Abyss, presents this person, one who organized President Kennedy’s assassination and masterminded the 9/11 tragedy plus many other, terrible deeds, as an intellectual, a philosopher, as collector of art and old books… It turns out that he has been loving only one woman for so many years and, as she died early, he even justifies his actions as unavoidable, dictated by fate, by his destiny…
