Ring 3
Bought for elderly parents to add a little extra security. The installation is simple enough to do. The battery lasts longer with a solar charger in the summer but not so well in the winter with the normal London footfall making it necessary to change the battery every 7 days or so I the winter. The positives are obvious so will only list the things to know and negatives.Recording wise a subscription is required. This on the other hand does mean there’s really helpful support online and over the phone.Sometimes the motion activation does not kick in straight away.To save battery it’s possible to set it up so that it pauses recording between activations this also means things are missed. With it being on the WiFi it sometimes has a special moment and does not register when a new battery is in or reconnect straight away and can be a multi an hour before it rights itself.Other than that it’s a really good system that provides some peace of mind.

Excellent, but expensive
I got this for my new home. I've had no issues with it, love it in fact.It has infrared lights that activate when it detects motion then sends you a notification with a screenshot and saves a video clip automatically.I would advise to go in to the settings on the ring app and change the motion detection to people only and the detection zone to exclude the road, otherwise you will get false alerts every time a car passes. You can change the ringtone on your phone too if you're sick of hearing the typical ring jingle from the adverts on TV. While you can change the ringtone of the notifications on your phone, you can't change it on the device itself for the people ringing the bell. Not essential but would be nice to have that customisable too.Wifi signal is weak, but good enough to function. I have my ring on the outside of my porch and the router in the updates window on the same side of the house. The WiFi signal should be good but it has a constant alert on the app saying it has a weak signal and advertising their WiFi booster. Could be a marketing ploy though as in reality it works fine and I can stream HD video without issue. There was one day when Ring's servers went down. When that happens you essentially have no doorbell and no motion detection, which is annoying especially if you're expecting a delivery. The outage was a few hours. It come with various adapters to angle the device on the wall, for if your property has steps or you're mounting it in a corner. Very handy. It also comes with a security screw and screwdriver so thrived can't take the facade off and unscrew from the wall. (The small screwdriver that's included take off the end and turn it around, you will have two tiny screes that fit that fitting). As Ring is owned by Amazon it works seamlessly with Alexa. I've connected my to an Amazon Echo Show (he assistant with the screen) and it sends notifications to the show I can access the video feed from the show, and I can have two way calls from the show too. I can do most things on the Alexa Show that I can do on my phone in the app, except I can't access previous video clips - I have to go in to the app on my phone for that.Battery life is good. I charged it for several hours first time and it's on around 70% now, a few weeks later. I will consider getting the solor panel next so I don't have to bother charging it.It's an expensive buy. 150 quid for essentially a door bell with a security camera. There are other brands but they might not be as good.

The first one was hopeless, the replacement is much better.
INITIAL REVIEW: I had high hopes for this and waited ages for it to come out....sadly it was utter rubbish. Received, charged the battery..(which takes an age,) and installed as instructions. Connected to WIFI seamlessly without issue and I was really impressed with the image quality on live view. But then there were problems pretty much from the off. It didn't work well with the Alexa skill, had to delete and reinstall twice, then it would work for a while then stop responding. Phoned Ring who said it was working from their point of view so was an Alexa issue not theirs, even though it's now advertised as "Works with Alexa". So I contacted them and the skill developers via email... still waiting....as their phones are offline due to lockdown. Then, no sound from outside when testing with my wife, who must have looked like an idiot to onlooking neighbours, repeatedly talking to the wall and then waving to confirm she could hear me. So I contacted Ring support again 2 more times before getting any joy...but that was the usual, check all settings, then remove battery, reset etc. Worked okay for an hour (not properly with Alexa though). Then, absolutely endless false detections to a point where I wanted to turn off the notifications. The final straw was when I received a phone call from the driver delivering my takeaway saying he was outside and that no-one was home...when I was sat in the living room of my house . No notification from my phone or Alexa, no bell ringing, nothing and there he was stood at the front door. Everything was set up correctly but it proved unreliable from the start. I'd like to say it's teething problems and I really wanted this to work but we are talking about a so called security device here, not simply a doobell. So no excuses Ring...if it's not reliable it's no good. Sorry, it's utterly useless and unfit for its intended purpose. I have never given a review like this in my life, but at £179!!! Seriously, save your money...don't say you haven't been pre-warned.UPDATE: After posting this review I was contacted by Ring who have asked if they can work at resolving the issues, initially by replacing the unit and then working through further issues (if any) remaining. Therefore return put on hold until this has occurred. If successful I will update review with the outcome.UPDATE 10th May:Ring replaced the initial unit and since I installed it this one works much, much better. No more false detections and up to now it seems very reliable. It's not perfect and I still can't get it to work correctly with my Firestick, but it's far better than the first one which clearly must have been faulty. Detection is now very good and I've had no false notifications as yet, but sometimes people can still get right to the door before they are picked up on camera. Although I'm sure that further tweaking of the sensitivity could get this right eventually. (#Now sorted by increasing the length of my drive in settings)It's working well enough for me to keep it now, so looks like I'll have to pay back Amazon who were amazingly quick to refund my money once I started the return. I just hope that the Alexa skill developers get the other problems ironed out. So from an initial one star review up to three and now four star...However the review is still mainly in it's original form, with updates so that if anyone has any of the issues that I've had, be aware it could just be a faulty unit that a replacement could solve. It's a long review but at this price you need all the info you can get before deciding and I still think it's a bit on the expensive side. It's also only fair to point out that the support that I've had since my initial review has been excellent and not once did they ask me to amend my review as some other companies tend to do. Thanks Nick.

Excellent, Wish I'd got one ages ago!
After parcels being stolen multiple times in my block of flats along with antisocial behaviour and someone breaking into mu post box to commit identity fraud I decided to get this. Just wish I'd got one ages ago. Already captured and appeared to deter someone 2 weeks ago who looked suspicious coming up to my floor looking for something. Was a little worried about performance as I've seen comments about poor WiFi signal and problems with notifications and the app but mine is working perfectly. My WiFi is 20 feet away and I've had no issues, easy to set up, there's only a 1 second lag between live view.Great features including drawing where you want motion captured, thumbnail screenshot alerts so I can ignore the recordings of my neighbours who go in and out multiple times. I purchased a chime separately but I didn't need it ad my phone alerts me if someone is at the door.Great peace of mind when at home and away as I can go live if away to check everything is okay. And we've had no more thefts. Though I was kind of hoping to catch out our parcel thief! For £2.50 per month it's great. Everyone should have a Ring doorbell. The peace of mind that your property is safe is great.Battery power is good too. On the maximum detection level it's using 5% per week.

An excellent versatile security system, which is easy to install and maintain
Is a very good product for security. The product is easy to install and maintain and allows you to answer your door, if at home or away. The doorbell has detected intruders on a number of occasions and using the ring spotlight and camera with a built in alarm enabled me to scare the intruder away., due to the prior warning from the ring doorbell, the doorbell works very effectively and virtually no delay to alerting you to the caller or intruder. The product is easy to install and maintain and works seamlessly with the iPhone and iPhone app. I had no issues with the ring line of products as part of my home security system. The doorbell also works in a standalone mode without any need for purchasing expensive add-on kidsI would also recommend if you have the doorbell. You also add the solar panel which will allow the battery of the doorbell to trickle charge. My first ring doorbell has been in place for approximately one year six months and never needed to be taken down to be charged due to the solar, keeping the doorbell charged, I am being a Ring user for approximately two years and would recommend their products

Easy to install, easy to use, good quality
I was provided with a unit for review, but even saying that, it's been a great experience!I had a Ring doorbell 2 already, which has been seeing lots of work in the past few months with all the deliveries that we are receiving due to the UK lockdown. It's great being able to get doorbell alerts on whatever Echo devices you might have in the house, on your phone and even to be able to see the front door from an Echo Show. The Ring Doorbell 3 is a direct replacement for the 2. It fits in the same holes that are drilled for the 2, and works the same way. To be honest there's not much difference between them - the 3 has a few newer features which I don't think will be much use to me personally. The device is beautifully packaged - it's like getting an iPhone out of the box. Everything is nicely packaged and labelled and very easy to identify what you need and which bits are extra or "just in case". The tools you need (except for a drill, but a drill bit is!) are all included and are good quality.Setting up the device is a breeze in the app, it took about 20-30 minutes for the device to update when I first put in the battery and connected it, but after that it's been on constantly with no issues. The movement detection and verification works brilliantly, most frequently picking up cats wandering past our front door!We have a road outside our front door and it's good to be able to set both exclusion zones and to change the range of the detection zone to avoid passing cars triggering recording.I really like the Ring Doorbell 3, if you want a video doorbell and you've got a wifi signal near your door, I recommend it!

Amazing!
I am extremely happy with the Ring Doorbell 3! I have had it on my door for just a few days and it has been very helpful. At my house, we are constantly receiving packages and I have been able to communicate with delivery drivers where I want my packages left whilst I’m away from home. I can also keep a watchful eye on them until I arrive home which is great. The motion detection is fabulous and the notifications come through straight away. The only downside with regards to the motion detection is that sometimes when you check the notification it will display as “processing” for a few seconds, until it shows you a live view of your front door/chosen placement. The only other downside is that, given that we have three floors to our house, the front door is on the bottom level, and our WiFi box is on the second level, which meant when we first started using the doorbell it didn’t always have a strong Wi-Fi signal. We have Virgin Media Wi-Fi, which is generally above average compared to other broadband providers we’ve used before, but for the Ring, we had to purchase a broadband extender (which was only cheap) in order for the connection to be strong at all times.Besides that, there is nothing bad I can say about this product. The view it gives is excellent and captures the entirety of my garden/front entrance (and more), the night vision is brilliant and the I feel much safer having this.Highly recommend!

A very good device but things you need to know before buying.
1) Video quality is good but I wouldn't go as far as to say excellent.2) you MUST have a very strong Wi-Fi signal or live view will not work and to put this into perspective my router is about 8 feet away from the front door and it still wasn't strong enough. This could be to do with the Sky routers being not that great but worth knowing none the less. The other this to bear in mind if you are on Sky Q and have multiple mini boxes they act as a mesh network, the door bell will then roam between the boxes and this can make the signal week too so what is advised by Ring is they are put on there own Wi-Fi extender. To be fair to Ring they supplied me with a Ring Chime Pro at no cost but then i had just sunk over £500 on ring products. This then acts as a wifi extender and will put all devices in range on this network. Its a very good item but i would have been very annoyed if i had to have purchased this myself.3) Ring customer support are very helpful but i would have just preferred for it to all work out of the box without the need to contact then at all.4) SUBSCRIPTION, This maybe my own oversight but I was under the impression that it would be £25 for the base subscription but its £25 per device for the base subscription, as i have 3 devices this then put me into the £80 a year category where you can have as many devices as you want if you want access to all the feature that make having these devices worthwhile. Again i may have thought twice about these products had i fully understood this before taking the plunge.

Gebruik Ring 3
