The key was the nut!
I took my old trap in to a reputable plumbing supply store and they sold me the wrong part... they missed the fact I needed the captive nut. This is a high quality part and arrived exactly as I expected.

Works Great for Older Home Plumbing
This J trap worked great for our bathtub drain. We had already tried one from the big box stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Menards) but the problem is they only carry generic plumbing products for more modern homes and when your dealing with an older home you need the right fit. This replaced the old leaking trap with ease. Further it had rubber gaskets that made the seal on the joints leak proof. No TFE paste. I which the big box stores would realize that not everyone has a new home.

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
The captive nut connection on this EZ-Flo 1-1/2 Inch Heavy-Duty J-Bend Sink Trap is a TOTAL JOKE. Is is nowhere near the larger size captive nut needed to connect with any plumbing in a quality older home. The supposed 17 gauge brass is laughable. There is NO doubt this product would sustain significant damage should it meet with any external force, such as that of an actual heavy duty plumber's wrench. This is just more of the inferior quality that has been foisted on a naïve public. The disappointment with this product gave no alternative but to return it and go to an ACTUAL plumbing supply store. All of the *big box* stores (i.e., Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) stock the same inferior quality, unfortunately.

Not exact replacement. Flange end slightly larger than original. Imported and low quality.
Had to file the original pipe ID and trim the length of the flange with a Dremel tool. Not a quality replacement but it worked after filing and trimming.

Worked Fine!
The Eastman 35112 17-guage J-Bend Sink Trap worked perfectly. The 17-guage pipe is heaver than the 22-guage that you see advertised at the same price (or higher). It replaced an old sink trap that was made in USA, but seems to work just as well. The only thing that was lighter duty compared to the old one was the two nuts, which are not as heavy. However, a water-tight seal was achieved with little more than hand tightening of the nuts, so there was no problem. I did use pipe-joint compound at the joints. All in all, a very good value for the money.

All as stated, loked nice but was defective
Could be 1 in a million or bad quality? Just what I needed for my set up. Hope it is the thicker 17 gauge. Had it all set up and upon testing,it has a split/leak in the very bottom of the bend!!! Another project set back.
