I just opened this package, tried them on and... I don't know.... I'm a pretty true size 10 (dimension-wise), can sometimes fit 10.5, but it just depends on how a shoe is made. These are tight in the little toes. Based on other reviews, they need time to break in, but I'm worried that if they don't, I'm stuck with a super uncomfortable pair of shoes.Also, when I have my foot as far back into the ankle sling as possible, my toes do not go over the threshold (so technically fits). But when I try walking in them, my toes slide forward and hang off the front a little bit. I'm not crazy about that. My husband says it looks fine, but that I need a tan to match the shoe color 🙄I'm not sure what I'll do yet.

I'm giving these 5 stars for comfort, build quality and cool mediterranean style, even though I had to return them due to the taupe color looking vaguely orthopedic and making my legs look washed out and elderly. I should've known better. But the size 40 were true to a size 10. At first they felt slightly tight around the toes, but quickly (as in, within 10 minutes of wearing them indoors) felt totally comfortable. I'm going to try the turquoise color next and see if they look better on my big middle-aged (not yet elderly) feet.(On another subject, I hate how Amazon asks "Do these shoes provide good arch support?" as though "yes" equals "good." I'm against the whole ridiculous notion of "arch support." The best arch support is your own arch doing its job unencumbered, without a bunch of squishy material preventing it from flexing properly. These shoes are perfect in that regard-- a nice, hard, flat sole that allows your foot to operate normally without interfering with its natural flex. I've never seen an arch in nature or architecture that required with a huge support in the middle of it to keep it from falling down. Ridiculous idea, "arch support.")If I had kept these, I have no dobut I could have walked comfortably for miles-- and probably found plenty of boy scouts to help me cross the road.-- EDITED to add, April 2016--I decided to repurchase these shoes in metallic gold for an upcoming european trip. I don't know if my feet have been spoiled by years of "natural" wide-toebox shoes (mainly Vivo Barefoot), but my toes are now are intolerant of anything that restricts them. These new gold Avarcas are nice looking (cuter than taupe on me, I think) but the toe box feels too narrow compared to my ultra-roomy Vivos. I've been wearing them for the past week but they haven't stretched enough to the point where I'd call them perfect yet. However, I really appreciate that the strap stays on and never slips, that it has rubbed NO blisters despite the fact I've walked many miles in them, and that the sole is thin and flexible and moves easily when you walk. I've decided to purchase a leather stretcher to see if I can widen the toe box another quarter inch so that my little piggies stop their incessant squealing.

I like the unique look. Bought this for a trip and let’s see how it’ll hold up. I’m breaking it in at home and so far, half a day, they have been comfortable. I usually am a 6.5 for shoes and go up to 7 for slippers and sandals, so these size 7 fit me perfectly. It’s snug enough to keep my feet in, but not too snug so my feet don’t hurt. I’m loving it so much that I want to buy other colors!

Update: Below is my original review explaining how tight they were at first and my sizing dilemma. I decided to keep the size 7 because I wanted to see if I could make them work. I wore them around the house while wearing a thin sock (real cute) and it seemed to help stretch and break them in. The first day that I wore them for a few hours out of the house without socks, my last 2 toes really ached by the last hour. After several more days of wear they have broken in and molded to my feet nicely. No more pinching and I wear them just about every day. So thankful that I kept them and worked through the stretching out period.Original Review: As far as style, these are off-the-charts cute. So much so that I ordered them 4 times trying to get a pair that fit, but I have finally given up. I first tried my usual size 7 which seemed like they might be too big. Seemed tight in the toes but the sole of the shoe seemed to big-- looked awkward on my foot. I sent them back for a 6 and the size looked spot-on and was lengthwise but after wearing them around the house for days I could not handle how badly my toes were pinched. So then I ordered a different color in a size 6 hoping the leather might be different or since they are handmade maybe I would luck out and get a wider pair. No such luck. I returned those and ordered a 7 again but again they pinched my toes so badly. I don't have a wide foot. I have never worn a wide shoe. But these must be made for people with narrow feet or long skinny toes. They are so cute. I am so disappointed, but I am not ordering a 5th pair. They seem to be very high quality and I would recommend if you have somewhat narrow feet.

I am so disappointed with this purchase. Bought the same sandals, same size, but color a little different and they runs small. First one in white color, size 7 was bought 2 years ago and were perfect. This year decided to buy a new one, beige/off white color, the same size 7 and they are too tight as I even can’t wear them! Is it a way of reducing the production price or what???

Have not walked for long yet in these shoes so not sure yet how they hold up although the quality seems great, or if they will become uncomfortable. The few short times I've worn them so far they have been great and are super comfortable. Really cute too.

I love the way these look and they are well made, but they fit on the narrow side in the toes and the fit itself takes getting used to. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend sizing up because a size up was too long sliding off. If you have wider toes you may have issues.

Love these shoes true to size but you will be charged duty on arrival.

I'm usually size 7.5 in boots and shoes. Candles I sometimes can go a 7 if they are open. I got these in a 7. A little sore the first few wears but now they are amazing.

Love them.
