Seals Kayak Cockpit Drape Cover

Travels well
Works great! Even at freeway speeds it doesn't move. Narry a flutter nor a flap. I had my husband drive next to me to make sure. Now I can leave my paddles, towels, dry bag, and life vest in the kayak as I travel.

After roughly 1800 miles still looks like new!
This drape in XL size is a great fit for my Pelican™ 10ft Odyssey 100X kayak. It covers the cockpit completely and secures very well with the attached bungee cords. The trick to a good fit is to make it very snug, just-just short of over-tightening. The bow end needs to be snug over the deck and secured so it won't slide back. Secured in that fashion, the drape stayed like glued-on for the entire trip on top of my Forester. It kept the rain out completely, it also greatly reduced the drag and completely eliminated the wind 'singing' in the cockpit. And the best part? After roughly 1800 miles of driving, rain and shine, mostly on the highways and freeways at high speeds (60-75 mph), the drape still looks like new. This thing is rugged and worth my money. For those who need to know: this drape did not fit our 9 ft. Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top model. I believe that the Tandem size should fit well, but we will check more options before buying.

Fits perfectly on Future Beach 127 Kayak
I was nervous about ordering the "regular" sized seal for the cockpit of my kayak, knowing that the opening was fairly large compare to others that I've seen. I took a leap of faith and purchased it. This item fits perfectly and is very snug around the cockpit as well as my tackle box in the front of the cockpit. Couldn't be happier. No spiders! Yay!

Pros Outweigh the Cons
First, what I dislike: I ordered this drape for a Pelican Mustang, and being a drape I knew the fit wouldn’t be perfect. It’s a little difficult to get a good seal and avoid gaps. It’s also difficult to get the bungees around the circumference of the kayak to hold the drape. Now for what I like a lot about this sealskin drape. Made in USA. The drape is thick enough, but not so thick as to be heavy or awkward to deal handle. The material is obviously durable! Whatever it is, it is neither crinkly nor the plastic of any tarp; that is, it won’t split or crack any time soon. Plenty of bungees to help conform the drape to the kayak. Bungees are permanently attached on one side; wrap them under your boat and secure with a sturdy clip to a sturdy eyelet on the opposite side. Excess bungee can be pulled through a locking mechanism on each line to get a snug fit.If I knew then what I know now, would I still buy the seal skin drape? 100% yes.

Great Buy
Purchased this cover for my Pelican Traiblazer 100 Kayak. I bought the XL size and it fits perfectly. Very easy to put on and it has bungees and clamps to tighten over the opening on the boat. Also, made in the USA!

For Hurricane Santee Sport
Slipped right on to my Hurricane Santee Sport which has a 30" beam. Actually covers more than the cockpit area. Because I leave my seat in it does not lay 100% flat there is a small bulge from the seat back and that lifts up the sides of the cover a little so creatures could sneak in possibly. Since its only one section between two bungees that does this I'm incorporating an added lay-down feature. I like this better than an elastic pull cockpit cover because its more snug and stays on better when going down road when its on top of car.

Excellent Solution
Extremely happy with this product. We searched everywhere for cockpit covers for our 10'4" Viper kayaks. Nothing fit the larger cockpit correctly, and with little 'lip' around the cockpit, my homemade one didn't stay on either. Stumbled upon this drape style here on Amazon but had to wait quite a while for them to be back in stock. Our cockpit is right at the top end of the 'regular' range and the low end of the 'xl' range. Decided to go with the 'regular' (because it was back in stock first) and I am glad we did. It fits like a glove and anything longer would be too long. Thankful to now be able to keep the critters and insects out of our kayaks while storing them outdoors while camping. And these seem water repellent, so they might keep a light rain out too!

Perfect for weird-sized Pelican cockpit
After test-fitting a few oval cockpit covers and finding them lacking, I opted to try this Seals drape cover on my Pelican Odyssey 100X. It fully covers the cockpit (with some extra overhang) and the elastic straps hold the cover on securely. I only use a cover during outside winter storage to keep the bugs and junk out so I don't know how long it would last if installed and removed on a daily basis. I don't think I'd try using this while the kayak is on the car, but for my needs it seems perfect.
