It's obviously subjective, but I bought both the DR-05 and h1n, and after shooting with both I definitely prefer the DR-05.Although the h1n is smaller and easer to conceal under clothing if you're running a lav mic on talent under clothing I just liked the feel of the DR in my hand. I always felt like I was going to break the h1n.I think the sound on both is comparable in terms of a lav preamp. But I did like the DR's on-board mics just a little bit better. And again this is purely subjective.The USB interface is pretty simple to use so you don't have to take the SD card out. I didn't even notice if the h1n had one.So yeah, I just preferred the way the DR works for me. Though, the h1n is a great little recorder, too. Just not for me.

Even with Tascam recorder's dual-microphones right in front of my Fender tube amp on high-gain distortion, the recording came out crystal clear. I'm glad I bought the package as it had everything I needed to record and transfer wave files to my computer. I've only had it 4 days, so these are solely, my initial impressions.

Works well. Not sure if the sound quality is great. All I know is that it is better than using the camera audio which is a big no no. Only uses mics with aux cord. And takes a micro SD card. Love the lav mic it comes with.
